If you get the ones with holes they arent too bad in a pinch.
But id upgrade to the a cloth pots as soon as you could.
They are much more durable.

They claim the fabric pots are exceptional for air pruning of the roots. I have recently just used the 1 gallon size but I did not really see any amazing results because of them. the fabric pots are re usable but they are a pain to clean and they are a pain for transplanting to

I use cloth smart pots and plastic bags. When i was buying things i couldn't afford smart pots. this time around so i bought a variety of plastic grow bags because there ultra cheap. I bought some 2 gallon, 5 gallon. and 30 gallon grow bags. Before i go any further. I get better yields and better healthier plants off smart pots. SO ALWAYS if you can GO SMART POTS... ITS SMART. either way. I have found that the 2 gallon grow bags rip to shit like all the time on me. its fine there like super cheap. The 5 gallon ones are very nice They are durable enough to withstand being moved a "few" times. Also gophers and moles will just chew right into the pots :( so i lay down a layer of landscaping fabric that has seemed to keep them at bay. The 30 gallon plastic pots... if you put dirt in it. you are not gonna be able to move it without tearing holes in it like everywhere.... so at the end of the day. Smart pots. air prune, right humidity, EXCELLENT root sctructure, EASY to move, Durable as all get out(sewing may be required) But in a pinch... the plastic bags have done me fine. and gotten me over that hump so i could buy the smart pots. or felt and make square pots.

I used the 3 gallon bags the last run the biggest plants were ready to tip them over.I have not tried the 5 gallon grow bags. They are ultra cheap and work in a pinch.Just be mindful of how big the plants may get!!I just got a couple of fabric DIRT POT fabric pots that are great!!

keep at it even in the 1 gallon geopots I use still a much better formed root structure(I like the 3+ gallon you can grow some pretty big plants in 3 gal geo) especially if you're using ogbiowar nutes or mycos. Are you using smarties or some other brand than Geopots? Try Geos :tiphat:

i like the best stuff but i still use grow bags for certain grows quite often... pots are a pain in the ass to store and cloth pots are $$.... if you are certain you will not be changing your container size down the road it is worth the investment for cloth

if you change your mind about size every few months like I, go with plastic. i usually size up one and roll down the upper edge about an inch so it isnt as filmsy, if you dont the edges will flop down if you hand water

I think pots are the way to go, especially if you're going to be moving the plants often. Cause of the way I have my grow set up I move my plants almost daily for watering and also I spin them 180 degrees so that the light can penetrate to all spots of the plant. bags are cheap and troublesome, fabric is expensive and need to be replaced. Pots almost never go bad and can be re used countless times

I have never replaced any of my cloth pots to date. They have all went thru many runs. almost 2 years old now. look just like when i bought them.
