Grommets for 55gal barrels?

Ok i usually use grommets from the hydro store for use on my rubbermaid rez's and 5gal buckets. I got some rubbermaid stock tanks and blue 55 gal drums, and the space in between the lips of these grommets are too thin to fit nicley between both sides of the plastic they are goin thru. The drums and tanks are at least 3x as thick as a normal rubbermaid tote. Anyone know where i can find some of these special sized grommets, or offer a solution...? I need either 1/2" or 3/4" size grommets.
WHAT IM TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH is.....
I need them so i can install a water level meter on my tanks (elbow and clear tubing), kind of like the ones on dwc buckets you see at the store.
I also have a 55 gal tank hooked up to a merlin with a float shutoff switch, and i need to drill a hole in the side and insert 1/2" tubing to connect to other barrels so they can all fill while only using one shut off switch on the main tank.

I've seen assorted sizes at the hardware store. I think they were in the electrical section (probably intended for strain relief) but they're rubber and will work. Electrical boxes may not be as thick as the drum but I bet they'll work anyway.

You should be able to find what you need at home depot or lowes in the plumbing section or the electrical. and alot cheaper then a Hydro store.

I checked, theyre grommets are too thin.

hit up a fish store ask for a bulk head....... there like 15 bux and a good salt water reef store will have from 1/2" to 2" there made so pvc glue's right into them i have never had one leak on me the washer is thick
if your tie'n 2 barrels id use above 1"
i use 1-1/2" from barrel to pump for my coli.....

Does anyone think if drilled a 1/2" hole i took a 1/2" tube and 5/8" tube and put one inside of the other, if that would work? Im bad with fractions, what inner/outer diameters would i need to do this? Im just trying to make a grommet out of a hose, in case your not seeing the picture..

Im half tempted to just get some silicon and freaking hardwire the tubes to the buckets permanently!

Have you tried PVC pipe fittings? I have built 5gal DWC buckets usint 1/2 inch fittings from home depot. Let me see if I can explain..

As long as everything is tight, no leaks. Not sure how good it works for the 55 gal barrels, but pretty cheap to find out. Total cost about $6. Change the outside piece (I have a valve) to a 90 deg., and run your level indicator up the barrel.
