Welcome to my 3rd grow!

I got a humble setup: 6ft x 3 x 2 cabinet, 250w HPS aircooled hood, 220 m3/hr exhaust, passive intake, pre ferted soil.

I just started growing early last year and got hooked (on growing) ever since I witnessed the first true leaves appear

2 days before New Year I harvested my Amnesia Lemons...

This time I'm going with 1 Kushberry and 2 x Fruity Chronic Juice.

They actually started 18/6 on Nov 26 under 110w fluorescent tubes, while I was flowering my Amnesia Lemons.

I don't know if the fluorescent light caused the tight inter-nodes, however the growth was slower and the stems are thinner than I was used to when I vegged other plants under the HPS.

I chopped the Amnesia Lemons on Dec 29 so that day I moved the 3 young plants under 250w hps.

I switched to 12/12 on Janurary 5. Pre-flowering pistils already appeared maybe 2 days before the switch.

This is Day 5

Before training - nothing wild yet, just some "V" pistils here in there

After training - getting pretty busy. Will stop training soon and just let them grow upwards

Hey greenops,

very nice scrogg you put together. i'm really impressed, looks like you did some research before you built your setup. when i think back to my first 1 lamp set up, you'rs becomes all the more impressive. mind you i didn't have the internet to learn from when i started. :) your buds look nice and fat, full of trichomes too. all round good job.

what growing medium are you using ? what ferts you using?

Hey there, thanks for the compliment! Unfortunately I have limited space, so I gotta keep it basic. But yea the internet has been pretty helpful lol

My growing medium and ferts? lol is this a trick question? I got 2 threads shutdown before because I mentioned brands and breeder name... I'm using a branded pre ferted soil mix, and grow n bloom fertilizer of the same brand as the soil. They have been recommended by the guys at my local growshop. I also add molasses midway through flowering.

rofl nah man no trick question. i was just wondering if it was soil? people don't mind brands of nutrients being named. so far we have no fert vendors here, lol. personally i use the canna coco line. sounds like you got the nutrient regime well researched too. if you ever switch to coco your setup could stay the same easily. just fill your pots with coco instead of your soil mix.

LOL now I get it... I'm using Plagron's Grow Mix and Plagron Grow & Bloom as base nute.

It's been 6 days since the switch, but the pistils are still small.
When do you usually count the start of flowering?
I read different opinions regarding this from growers. Some start to count when they switch 12/12 even if no hairs are visible, other when the first pistils appear and some don't start to count until the hairs form like crowns.

most of us start counting the flowering phase from the day the plants go to 12 hour nights. most strains will stretch from 2 to 3 weeks from the day you switch to 12/12. thats why i dont talk so much about day 30 of flowering, i will always post; day 30 of 12/12, then there is no doubt what is meant. also it confuses the issue if some people count from the first pistil bushels. most folk coun't from the day they go to 12/12, just seems the correct route to me lol.

Day 9 of 12/12

Thanks for checking in guys.

So since my last update I watered the plants with 6.3pH of water mixed with a lite hesi root stimulator solution. Runoff is 6.8pH.

Not a lot of hairs yet, these girls are still in puberty lol.. actually I expected that they would flower sooner.

I also had some problem with scrogging these girls. I purposely fixed the screen closer to the base than usual. I wanted to speed up the filling of the screen. However, due to the short distance i snapped 2 tops already.. Luckily the stems didnt snap off completely, but it was very close. I wrapped a tape around the injury and the first branch has already recovered, the 2nd accident just happened last night but it looks to recover as well.... its amazing how this plant can deliver energy and nutrients to the other side of the cut, but i'm sure it causes some stress.

I think the screen if filled to 95% and I'm planning to stop training for the most part. A few branches still need some moving but more or less this would be it. I hope they will stretch some more upwards.

yeah it's cool how the stems can heal after breaking. i normally add a toothpick as a splint then tape. screen looks real good, and as long as the bushels of pistil hairs are not there the plants will still stretch, even after she has buds she can still stretch, depending on the genetics.

this is my afghan diesel and diesel skunk i have running, i selected these 2 from a batch of sour diesel ibl x Casey Jones i grew out. run see of green style kinda.

I like your grow man those are huge plants compared to mine. Never had the strain but I really like the NY Diesel. I was looking for some short flowering Diesel strain for this run. Matter fact I got the seeds, Grapefruit Diesel (7-8 weeks flowering time) but both seeds came out really weird, mutant like, so that I had to let them go.

Day 12

I'm basically done with training now. I tucked in some branches while i let others be. The canopy is a lil uneven but the spread is good enough for me. I really wanna let them stretch this time. In my last run i had a lota buds just on screen level..

I believe the plants communicate with each other. I've seen all my plants develop pistils at the same time and at the same rate. i look at them now, they virtually have the same amount of pistils, 2 different strains right there. Same thing with my Amnesia Lemon... 2 way different phenos flowered just at the same time. Also an ak48 and skunk Nr1 multistrain scrog, started flowering at the same time.

I was told by the guy at the growshop to continue using Plagron Grow Nutes (opposed to Plagron Bloom Nutes) until the pistils start to form like crowns. I also read somewhere before that the plant requires a different ratio of NPK during all stages like veg, switching to flowering, flowering etc... And understanding that principle helps this one grower achieve 1gr per watt. Unfortunately i cant find that article or whatever it was anymore, but if anyone of you know what npk requirement thru all stages is about please share ur knowledge =)

Aiight so in this video these guy trims the shit out of this girl... i'm wondering if i should do the same considering how bushy its getting down there (see pic). Wont this stun, shock, negatively affect them?

the defoliating tech is highly controversial, i wouldn't try it, you want your plants to stretch as much as possible now to make space for the colas to form.

for flowering i start to use flowering ferts the day i go 12/12, but in coco that's all you use anyway, lol. but yeah i have heard of peeps giving the veg formula nutes for the first 2 weeks of 12/12, then switching to flowering formula ferts. both works, it's a matter of preference. in my experience gpw is achieved by using the right strength of nutrient solution rather then any particular brand or formula if the set up has enough fresh air, light and water, just as long as you use flowering nutes during the main flowering phase and veg during veg phase. it's not the amendments either, basic nutrients can get you gpw and more, it's really a matter of the correct amount for your set up and strain. i have found some strains will do better when you are not using full strength nutrients solution on them, in fact i rarely use full recommended doses. i find with 50% to max 70% my ec levels are as high as my plants feel comfortable with.

interesting about the simultaneous pistil show. will be interesting to see if the start the actual flowering bushels of pistils at the same time too?

Amen to that Gaius Marius.
I'm still trying to learn how to find out what the plant needs/ has too much of, just by looking at her appearance. I know basic like Yellowing of large fan leaves is N deficiency etc.

Day 15

Ok they are flowering slower than expected. I hope they will pick up soon. Last night I fed her the Grow Nute for the last time, then its going to be water, bloom, water, bloom etc. During late flowering I will also add Molasses and Green Sensation.

Wheeeew my order finally arrived. I was getting worried cuz the tracker said my package was at my local post office since saturday. Ill be handling regular seeds for the first time. The freebees look interesting too.

I used to be a spliff guy but at my place its all about stealth. So i got me a quick one hitter. The smoke gets filtered 3 times so its pretty smooth, tho its a lil hard to control the smoke intake when u hit it the first time ull prolly choke! cheers!

this is an awesome show, keep them coming! very neat set-up, I always wanted to do a scrog.. someday .. :D your previous grow looked to yield great, do you think scrog is more efficient than other methods?

EDIT: and I see a pack of Cindy! man, you're in for a treat! my fav strain to grow & smoke since 03 :smoker:

Thanks thor.

I already scrogged my first grow so i cant compare it with other techniques. I was told by another poster to go scrog due to my space. All i can say is scrog is fun, i like being able to control where the buds grow.

Yea man I'm getting excited for the Cindy99! I only used femd seeds before, so now i hope i get a lota girls!
I'm planning to keep the Cindy alive thru cuttings from summer to next winter.. dunno how i will do that yet but i got some weird ideas floating around.

hey greenops,

nice to see your order made it through, there is always a chance they get lost on the way.

nice looking head stash selection you have there.

moscas c99 is supposed to be a good representation of the c99, will be fun to see how it does.
