Greenhouse idea

Greetings fellow ICmaggers. I am at a point in my life where my family and I think it is a good idea to consider pursuing a greenhouse. We have been smoking a long time and are looking to supply ourselves and our circle of friends. Fortunately, we are all medical patients.

Anyways my idea is to essentially make something that looks like a batting cage. 55 ft Long x 14ft Wide x 12ft High. How many plants do you guys think would fit in that area - I plan on using large smart pots and could use some recommendations on that; I was thinking 40 gallon.

Chain linked fence will be the skeleton. This will provide a porous and secure frame which is important for San Diego greenhouses; law says you have to have a "secure greenhouse". Plan on having a locked door on one of the sides. I was wondering if I should put shade cloth on all the sides, partially on all sides, on a couple sides or partially on a couple sides. Same question goes for poly in regards to the sides (obviously going on top.)

Recommended Cooling/odor techniques? I am still looking at properties but hope to end up canyon front with limited neighbors granted this is still in the city. I figure San Diego, especially near the ocean, is pretty moderate in terms of weather so I am more concerned with smell and visibility.

Lastly and tidbits you guys can think of are all greatly appreciated. I have many more questions and look forward to any knowledge you guys can send my way.

I would look into opaque plastic panels that let around 90% uv in. Price depends on if you get 5 or 10 year panels. Home depot should have them.

We use those...and are lucky if we get 2 years before they start turning black--
They work great, but yeah, you gotta change them every year or two--
