Green Flood lights during dark cycle??

I remember seeing on OG about green lights and having them on in your flower room during your dark cycle.... and that the plants dont pick up that spectrum... thus being able to work in your room during the dark period.

I had some discussions in pm's with Lothar as he used them, said he had been for years and never even turned them off.

Im cant remember, but I know I asked him if it needed to be certain kind of bulb... I think he said a flood light... but not sure?? I looked at them and they are for lighting gardens outside of houses @ night (holidays etc) but it didnt say anything about having a special spectrum that the plants dont pick up.

Anyone have any info on this? Thinking about getting a flood light and an extension cord socket ( the think you use to work on cars or in attics, cant rememebr what they are called).. using/hanging this in the room when I need to go in during 'nightime'.

The lights I looked at were 100w green flood lights so I know ill need to get a socket that will handle that...

Anyone ever used them, heard good/bad things about it? No problems like strain specific or anything?

btw, ( not that what they do means shit.... seen that 'mom' that is budding :pointlaug: ) anyways ...anyone that watched the show weeds you may have noticed they have these it seems....

Thanks.

edit: also do they need to stay on all the time or can I just use them as needed.. wondering if the total dark and then sudden green light occasionaly would be worse than just leaving it on...

Well I went searching and was able to dig up some more info that confirms it more for me.

Still not totally sure if I can use the green flood lights??, aparently can but dont wanna mess up my plants.. may need the special nursery safety light,.. whatever the hell that is... wondering if just one of the regular cheapo green bulbs will work :chin: .. Lothar told me flood light Im pretty sure.

Also if anyone can add input about leaving it on all the time or just when its needed?

I have a small closet and a small light and I have a plants to use a few weeks into flower Im probably gonna do a lil test over the next few weeks I guess to be sure.. see if I cant fuck her up somehow with the green light, dont say that much :sasmokin:

Well Ill post my results, heres some info I found.. any more input is greatly appreciated

#16 Q. Can I use a green light in my grow room in the dark cycle? I've heard that green light won't wake up my plants?
A. Yes you can use a green light in your grow room. Plants do not respond to the green range of the spectrum.

Green light is about the least effective part of the spectrum in plant growth responses.

A green light can be used to work on the garden during the dark period with no negative reactions from the plants. These are sold as nursery safety lights, but any green bulb should be OK.

I use a green flood light, I think it is a 100 watt bulb. Maybe 150 watts, I'm not sure. You can get them at home depot, menards, etc. They work great, no problems at all. I have actually used several different green bulbs in the past.

Thanks for the respone man! Glad to hear you have had success with it :D

Did you leave it on constanly? Or just when you needed to go into the room?

I wish I had learned this years ago, I guess I did a good while ago just never acted on it. :bat:

Hopefully others will see this and can benefit from the info. I know I will.... being able to go into the room during the dark period kicksass imo... Ive used a camcorder to see before, several times....and seriously contemplated night vision goggles.

Anybody else with green light or flood light info please post it up!

i got a 60w green incandescent bulb, always have. i turn it on when i go in during the dark. the flood lights appear to have a little band of uncoloured glass at their base, so i worry that they'll let in other light besides green.
