Grapes to keep your stash nice.

Anyone heard of the grape trick? Also read it can be done with lettuce.

Say you got a nice big jar full of bud, and want to keep it from drying to a crumble, throw a grape in the middle of the bud, and close it. It will preserve your bud for longer, giving it some moisture, not enough to mold it. Kind of like a slow release.

Works quite well. Just thought I would inform those who haven't heard.

true that KingRalph, orange or tangerine peel :D oldest trick in the book.
a grape just seems way too excessive... too much water plus it has too much sugars that will ferment your buds and rot them. peace!

just put it in a jar and dont leave it open its that simple. thats all you have to do. i wont put orange peels, potatos, or a grape in my nugs thats just dumb. if you leave it in a baggie it WILL dry out.

I toss a leaf in from the garden and pull it out a few days later... seems to help.

i've never heard of using grapes or lettuce, but i know a lot of people that use apples or orange peels or lemon peels. i guess any kind of fruit or anything moist would work. its also supposed to make taste better but in my opinion it tastes worse. when i tried it with orange peels, it gave my bud a nice orangey smell but it just made it taste worse, it didn't taste like orange at all.

it works best with lettuce cause it has a waxy coating on the leave allowing dry buds to pull just enough moisture from the lettuce leaf until they are "fresh" feeling....but not wet or moist to any degree, stem will still snap and will smoke fine out of jar.....but imho I like my bud crumbly

Here are the 2 experiments I have done, both have worked, it just depends on which you want. The 2 experiments are:

*1 for flavor AND moisture:
Take your jar/sack/container of buds and throw in some orange peels. Do NOT let the orange peels touch the bud directly! Let it set for a day or two, then take out the peels. Be sure to check the bag to make sure that you did not:
1. Put in too many peels, causing your buds to get too much moisture
2. Make sure your bud hasn't already started rotting. I have made this mistake twice and let me tell you, it sucks.
Now enjoy your citrus scented buds. Every time i've tried this I have noticed that the bud seems to hit a little smoother. I'd imagine it's like a very weak version of a water cure.

*1 experiment to just bring some moisture back to your buds:
Get a clean sponge. Rinse it with water. Squeeze as much water out of the sponge as you can with your hands. Unless you are obsessive compulsive, hercules, or both, your sponge should not be completely dry to the bone. So toss the sponge into your container of buds and let it set for a day or 2, be sure to check to make sure your bud isn't rotting or anything. And viola! Your buds are no longer so dry that they turn to dust when you pinch them!
:woohoo:

ok quick story...kinda off topic but kinda not and i'll keep it simple, i heard of this guy with this "killer" apple bud in a town next to mine, he wanted $900 for a QP, i went to check it out and it was just green schwag that i could tell had apple peels in it so i said i didn't want any......on the ride home my friend asked why i didn't want it and i told him that all he does is put apple peals in it, later my friend goes and buys alot of this normal green schwag for $250 a QP and puts apple peals in them overnight and turns around and makes $900 because he had the "apple" buds.

I agree that lettuce is among the best ways to rehydrate bud fast. I use organic lettuce, since what's inside organic lettuce is pretty much guarranteed to be nothing but pure water. Your average grocery store lettuce will leave more of a taste than organic lettuce.

Orange peels work to rehydrate, but they leave a slight scent, and anyone who knows the trick will know that the orangy scent means the herb has been rehydrated at least once. The grape idea sounds like it'll work... but I bet the lettuce is going to do the job much faster than a grape because it loses moisture to its surroundings much faster than a grape would.

I want to qualify this leaf... it's cannabis. Why not get the moisture where it came from and not add any outside influences?

If you have dry weed, you can use various sliced fruits to re-wet the green. But mold is a huge factor. Weed World has a nice entry about a humidor in thier last issue. Try that instead.

Yea, the grape is slow, which I like, because it allows you to be sure no mold will start, because you can sort of watch the process.

The grape will eventually turn to a raisen. It never gets slimy, unless your stupid and you put a hole in the grape which will allow the juices to get all over the buds, then creating mold.

To each their own.
