I got a pak of fem'd GDPs last month and got 3 up and running.
they are still in 18oz bear cups
and really needed to be up-potted last week into gallon bags.
they are about 7" tall and have healthy side branching already, especially the smallest one
they're in FF OF soil 3:1 perlite and looking healthy.

rubbing on the stems one has a sweetish hashy aroma,
another has a preonounced sourness
and the other i'm undicided on.
the leaves aren't super wide indie style or thin sativish leaves but a nice in between compromise.
I don't really see any differing pheno's at this stage of the game but maybe because they are fem'd
they're more consistent?

all are in in FF OF 3:1 perlite and i have been giving them PHP veg nutes at about 400 ppm and they are loving life under my T5 HOs and supplementing that with natural solar rays occassionaly during the day time.
I always get very tight internodal growth if its in the genetic make up with my T5s, very little stretch
I can't wait to up-pot to gallon containers and then under the 1000w MH and watch em Xplode with growth,
i love that time as much as flowering.

I'm not sure if the GDP's need to be top'd or not?
any suggestions from those that have grown this one welcome.

Topping depends on how close together they are and whether or not you want to veg longer to have them catch up.

I just ordered a pack of GDP and am looking forward to growing it out. These strains seem to have a lot of people interested.

Will be watching!

thanks lebniis,
some strains benefit very well and a some others don't take to topping.
I'm hoping someone thats grown this strain out before to chime in on the likes and dislikes of this one.

hope you gets yours in soon when gypsy's open again!

I've had GDP and topped it before, but I did not think it was a particularly fast vegging plant. I think it is a pretty hardy plant too and a topping with additional veg time would suffice.

yeah hammer, nearly everything Ive ran does well topped.
just a few dissident strains always seem to rock the boat.

lebniis, did you grow the grand doggy purps-fems or grand daddy purps?

after seeing seedee's GDP fems grow i cant wait till i get this into 12/12
his look spectacular so i know what awaits me!

ok time for an update,
they've been repotted into a new home and the doggy purps are loving the new basement filled with fresh FF OF :)

they started to yellow a bit on the lower fans from being in the small cups for an extended stay but it won't be long and they will start to fill out and green up quick.
I'm starting to get some very nice side branching going on so I will be topping in another week and get my cuts also.
unfortunately I didn't get em under the 1000w MHs
like i wanted ...
they are still under T5s but now they are under the big 8 bulb units till I can get a halide freed up... a week maybe... hopefully :D

Looking really green and healthy. The yellowing lower leaves could need some nitrogen just a bit but they are looking really good. They will get bushier if you do a topping. If they are really close together then I wouldn't bother but if you have the horizontal space then it is the way to go.

hello and welcome DWS
they were packed like sardines 48hrs ago into 18oz beer cups so they are probably letting out a big sigh of relief right now with the fresh nutes-soil-and space...

just watch what happens in the next 10 days,
you won't recognize em ;)

ok finally getting back on track,
I was suppose to flip at the start of feb but had an infestation of broad mites that delayed everything and luckily I beat em down with no real damage to the GDPs.
they hit 12/12 on 2-20 so they are 2-1/2wks in.
they are just starting to put on some frost

these had close to an 11 week veg but they really didn't stretch much. or grow very big.
I had 5 other strains in this grow from seed and the top two for putting the budz out quickest were the GDPs and KQK.
they look identicale except the KQK are a foot taller

GDPs do very well topped, very branchy.
even at 2 wks sprouting in cups they were ahead of all others with branches
did a defo on them yesterday to let the lite penetrate so they may look a bit thin.

not too smelly at all at this stage, rubbing gives a more sweet
aroma, hopefully they'll be like areo's *grandma's purse candy*
tallest one is @ 28"...... 2 shorter are @ 22"
this is actual height, not including containers

Those look very promising!! I hope you have some head room or you will definately have to tie them down and hold them up.

My testers started 8-12" and finished 28-36". According to my notes the main stretch lasted 32 days(90%). So if you are at 18 days bloom, they could double up on ya.

I hope you find some great phenos, the percentage of exceptional ones in this cross seems to be high from all I have seen and read so far.

Best wishes for pungent, purple and potent!

thanks aero,
they seemed to have slowed down on the stretch, we'll see.
actually I wish they would stretch more if it gets filled in.
a stretch of 2 or 3x the original height is alot.
mine seemed to have only added maybe a foot so far.
but if they go on for a month like yours I have it covered in the headroom dept.
some in this grow are currently pushing 5+ ft.

I also have more CSG gear starting up
got my secret recipe in so put 8 in water monday,
tues morning in wet paper towels
this morning all 8 are sporting tails.
yesterday I all 5 of the GDP S1's(kens cut) went into water and I have 2 cracked now.

SR and GDPs1 germ rates are pushing 100%
only the doggy purps didn't do well back in dec, 3 of 6/50% on those but may have been better if I did both paks/10 seeds

here they are @ 33 into 12/12.
and starting to frost up nicely. the smell on these are beautiful.
i may have one that will smell like aero's
*grandma's purse candy*
all 3 are sweet but one has a heavy chem undertone.
its all good and this stuff has you whiffing your fingers as long as you can after you feel up these young ladies up

on these 3 I had very little stretch at all aero.
the tallest went from 28"--> 35"
theb 2 shorties went from 22"--->30"
so the stretch was fairly minimal on this batch and came out to a very manageble 7-8inches.
actually I wished they would have stretched a lot more to get more yield out of em.
I'm not seeing any kind of color on em at this point.

Those look fantastic!

And a big WHOOT! on the pursecandy find!

The stretch you got is interesting. Maybe you have some chem-drag: where the stretch slows but never completely stops. I'm sure a bit of it is methods. Aero magnifies stretch in lanky plants, so you would be getting the better deal on stretch methinks.

The color comes late.

Hows this for a lil GDP stretch?

Day 0

Day 17

I figured the pix would be OK since we are sharing this GDP journey. If otherwise, please lemme know.

Best of Luck! <---- Tho it looks like you have it covered!

i don't know if I actually have your purse candy pheno but they sure smell great! they were a little slow to start puttng out the frost but where i'm at now its looking very good with at least another 4 weeks to go,
they should be loaded down big time and dripping with heavy frosticles

chem drag eh... hehe
i think you just came up with a new IC description aero.

I dunno? may be a few reason's along with chem drag why mine didn't or is it yours did hehe?
mine veg'd for nearly 11 weeks before they hit flower and were about stretched out?
I don't think this strain get real big, they were the smallest in this grow at the end of veg
OR
maybe your GDPs being fairly young had a lot of growing to do when the lites flipped?

and your welcome anytime to post pics in my threads
its all good my friend!

That chem smell will mature with time, adding a slight lurking death smell. I look for that extra smell in any chem or chem cross - it normally indicates extra potentcy. With GDP it melds with the sweet candy smell to an amazing intoxicating aroma and taste that no one can get enough of. Remember - the finest perfumes in the world are made by squeezing a skunk's ass!

In working with chems, I noticed a slow dragging creep of stretch was common. Hence chem-drag.

Your color should start coming in about 2 weeks - these plants are just strikingly beautiful.

Lotta reasons for us to get different stretch I agree - good thing is we know what we have and can use it for future runs.

Same here on pics, I just don't care for off-topic pics or games of oneupmanship. Sounds like we have many things in common - considering our strain choices and such.

Let's watch the grass grow!

thanks aero, I'm still learning the ropes on a lot of these strains.
and i have my 1st chem 4D ready to harvest soon in an outdoor patch.
what a coincidence you should mention that about the chem aroma mixed with particular other aroma's like a sweet grapey one, even tho i love the sweet smell of the other two BUT, the 1 with chemmy undertones just grabs and puts its hooks in ya. I 'm in veg now with a another sweetish grapey strain, gage--grape stomper x grape stomper that has chem in the cross and its really starting to smell rubbing the stem, the other nite I noticed the chem dominant ones smell different and as you say the smelled was absolutely intoxicating.... hard to describe

amen to that brother ;)
