Recently a kid in a town near me took his car for oil change and found a GPS tracking device under his car. THey were tracking him because he was a muslim, but ive also heard about them using to track growers and dealers.
So ive been doing some research about it, trying to find out what they use.
There are two types of trackers AFAIK....the really nice ones that come with computer programs that show every move, even your speed limit, etc require to be plugged in through OBD somehow.
There are also portables, that have around a 30 day battery life.
So what i recomend is that you take your car and have the bottom checked out every once and a while. i have several cars, and right now i use them in phases. i keep car 1 outside and use it for a few weeks. then i garage it and check under neath it with flashlight. i look for anything that looks cleaner than surrounding parts, out of place, or wires. although smart cops would weather their units to maybe match surroundings.
then i keep that car garaged for as long as possible, hoping that if they have a portable unit the battery will die.
but im wondering if they have super advanced units they could simply hide in your bumper or even exhaust, while looking under my car i saw several places where my flashlight could not shine (like inside the stepside rail for chevys).they could just toss a unit in there and be good to go.
so another option is to have some kind of frequency scanner or something, but while looking online these devices seem to be something of "myth" out of hollywood, but i know they HAVE to exist some where!!
please add your input if you have any, this is a serious topic because GPS is the NEW way to track criminals. its very easy for them to do, they could throw GPS units on five different growers and just sit back at their computers doing five different investigations at once. very scary stuff people! i remind you to do GPS scanner checks at least once a month!!! it just takes 10 minutes and a flashlight.
