Sweet! Nestle has randomly put a GPS tracking device into half a dozen chocolate bars sold in the U.K. and Ireland, giving candy connoisseurs a chance to win 10,000 pounds ($16,218) upon discovery.
As Obi-Wan Kenobi would probably say, it is as if millions of British dentists suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
Only six Kit-Kat (including the chunky variation), Aero, and Yorkie bars contain the GPS tracking chips (aka golden ticket), which activates and notifies Nestle when the wrapper is opened.
A humorous commercial related to the "We Will Find You" promotion describes the discovery process in more detail: "This will alert a secret control room, who will scramble a crack team of highly trained individuals. They will board a helicopter, find the special bar, and give the owner £10,000."
Nestle also put up 3,000 posters in the participating countries that come outfitted with NFC and QR codes so smartphone users can play along, track how many bars remain unclaimed, or win from a pool of 2,000 additional prizes.
As of today, the six lucky chocolate bars remain in the wild. Do you think this big brother-esque game would fly in the U.S.?

We are doing this to ourselves. If one of my friends worked for a company that used this technology against the general public I'd beat the crap out of him.
Can you imagine this technology being installed on grow gear packaging, cigarettes, condoms & plan-b birth control (LOL) and all junk food?
That way Michelle O. can know when and where I'm eating fatty unhealthy foods and send in a swat team to stop me from eating it or have it linked some new healthcare database. Then when you go see the doctor under Obamacare, the doctor will know exactly what you were eating. ha ha we are screwed.
Wait til the people who work for the government find out a way to use this technology.
