What's new

gosh darnit! why me?

some may recall my "outdoor cloning" thread just a little bit ago
well, last night me and my friend went to the plant and cloned it 3 times, and now, i go to look at them and 2 are wilting pretty bad
ill give a step-by-step method of what i did and maybe somebody can tell me what i did wrong if anything
we bought rooting solution, which says to have a node in the solution but to take all flowers and leaves off the base of the node, so we plucked off the leaves, cut the cutting, dipped it in the rooting solution, then put it in a mixture of potting soil with some manure that was very moist
we then packed in the medium around the stem, careful not to scrape the rooting solution off, then went and put them under a tree where they will get good shade all day
even when i went to go look at them, they werent dry....they werent as wet as the night before but not nearly as dry either
i just dont know what to do and ive had horrible luck getting more than one plant.....any suggestions and advice is greatly appreciated

cut the bottom off a 2 litre bottle and place it over the clone to keep the humidity up untill it roots

Take space ghosts advice. Dont give any nutes. I think they take 2 weeks to root outdoors?

Yep they'll take atleast that long....
Get a 2 litre top as sugested and you may just save your plants...
Make sure they're in a shady spot... Only indirect sunlight.. They should be fine...
I did this last year with clear plastic cups stacked on top of each other....

the manure in your soil mix sounds suspect to me... try again with unferted clean soil, and as suggested, do something to keep moisture levels up, although i´ve cloned outdoors without any, but i am in the tropics... up there now is prolly too dry...
good luck!

Leave it on, i think the hole would let to much water evaporate. I would poke pin-hole size holes though. I think you also have to come every other day and remove 2 litre so the clone can get some air? Might want to ask smokateer, i believe hes clones outdoors.

The coke bottle was a great idea with the cap on. Spray the cuttings with water and the interior of the bottle maybe once a day. Problem is you did not do this in the beginning and the cuttings have lost water. Do not give up hope...they may pull through and root.
