i know everybody has used an online map before, and im guessing that this topic has come up MANY TIMES here on IC, but I have not seen it in my time...

I am just very concerned...

http://maps.live.com < go there, type your address, click on locations, click birds eye view, and hit the + button to zoom in. You can also rotate to see different angles (N,S,E,W)

ALSO, google earth does something similar...

i see my properties better with the microsoft satellite.

just wondering if this really scares the shit out of anyone else like it scares me?

its more than scary its justification for revolution. makes me wanna start a aerospace company to destroy their satelites. america doesnt own space yet. i hope. cant even pee in my yard without a computer nerd homo watchin me, wtf? seriously we should be revolting by now. stolen elections, unjustified wars no one with a brain ever supported, more money than I can even dream of going to the vice presidents company that he has stock options in, poisons in foods and almost every other thing we come in contact with on a daily basis, just look at all the government sanctioned pollution that has ruined our country, taxes so high the retired poor gotta get jobs to pay to keep their property they worked so hard for, i could go on and on. we need these assholes out of office. no corporate money should ever go to a elected official. maybe we could sue on the grounds of their making pictures of private property available for all to see. probably wont work. someone should ask some politicians about their feelings on this great privacy infringement. maybe i will.

The government may have better maps/satellites, but after looking at my house with the Microsoft one, I dont know why people would worry. Those pictures are not "live"- the photos are not that very to date.At least in my area-maybe others are updated more frequently, but I can tell it is 3-4 years ago in mine. The resolution is low-you can barely tell that a tree is a tree-there is no way someone could look at your property and say "I see he's growing weed".

just imagine the capabillities of the government...

heh that's really weird...

the picture of my neighborhood is about 15 years old....

Most of the pictures are old, none of these are real time or up to date. as far as someone "watching you" via this, its highly unlikely nor is it breaking any privacy laws.

msn live is getting better then google everyday....
google is increasing becoming polluted with adds and pages designed to rank on the search results.

anyways the msn live images of my place were 10-15x better then google earth...closer and clearer... although none of this will be 'live' anytime soon...
give ms time to launch some satellites ...

They update the pictures about every three years. You can foil the satellites easily by living in a cave. Batman has some of the best ideas.

I do some work with computer mapping technology and there really isnt anything to worry about. The imagery from good earth is mostly from air planes, which are the only reasonable way to get 1m resolution (submeter is also possible). This imagery is very very expensive, $10,000 for 2 square miles or so. Most google imagery is old because of this.
I doubt the police have much remote sensing GIS capability. but it could be possible.

do a google search on recent google earth imagery, or use the GE forum, there is some great very recent imagery from the CIA on the afghan/paki border.
