Good or bad outdoor weather this season?

As the title asks, how has the weather been this season for everybody? I have heard stories of corn crops being turned under because high temps and no rain. Is this effecting anybody's cannabis crops?

For me here in the bay area in California it has been quite the opposite. We have been having much colder than normal temps, with good amounts of wind and precipitation. Here is a graph of what the temps are in a town close by to me, and what the normal's are. Keep in mind historically this is the hottest month of the year here.

First rows are 2012 temps, second rows are average temps for the area.

Now also take into consideration wind and moisture, and we are talking potential problems. Veg has been just fine, but I don't want to think about what mold issues will look like come late October.

Its killin mine and me with it! Yeilds are going to be dismal
Ive been growing a long long time and regaurdless of your location, there are good years, average years and bad years and for years it seemed like most were pretty good or average, but starting in 98 it seems like the bad years are increasing. Drought, heat, wind, hail. cold, early or late freezes.

This year because of the heat and drought is really one of the worst years ive known. Ive got growbuddies all around the country and its the same sad story about everywhere. I dont know anybody looking forward to a bumper crop and that includes traditional farmers. Crops are dying around here and are almost past the point of no return. If the weather doesnt moderate in the next week or 2, this seasons done for a lot of farmers.

been nice up near chico....had some 100 degree days but its back down to 90s..plants are exploding with growth. had 2-3 days of light rain and clouds in late june that did seem to slow them down a bit..

Weed doesnt grow well when temps top 90. I watched a J.Cervantes video on youtube this afternoon where he claims it stops growing at 85 but i havent seen that, but they clearly dont enjoy 95.

Similar weather about two hours north of Chico, some scorching days last two weeks but overall really good as long as you are putting down the water! NS

Its been real hot up here but the humidity has been excellent for veg. Everyone I talk to who are growing in my region are very happy w/ the vigorous growth. 1 dude I know whose been growing for years says he has never seen plants shoot up the way they have this past week. I havent visited my outdoor plants since dumping h2o on them friday, but they were doing great. This heat wave hasnt hurt them at all. Ill check em tomorrow and report back. cheers

Out in the north east things have been great and really care free! 5 sunny days in a row followed by a good heavy rain... pretty much care-free so far besides basic chores.

Healthy plants clearly enjoy 95 + temp. The healthiest most vigorous growth I've seen to this day has occurred on days that went over 100F.

It’s been truly amazing here in Sonoma County, pretty much since the last part of March. I’ve never seen weather so cooperative before, other than say ’97. We had a heat wave for two weeks at the end of June and beginning July, but the plants literally exploded. I’m talking about a growth rate of 1 inch in all directions each day. I was under the impression that plants shut down at 87 degrees…but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The leaves were sticking straight up when the garden was at 105 degrees, as if they were telling the sun, “that’s all you got”. The only time I see plants express this phenomenon is in-doors, but only when the plants are completely dialed in. I just hope the weather maintains and we have an Indian summer, because I dedicated a good portion of the garden to Sativa’s this year…crossing my fingers.

I was skeptical of growing in my area due to the 110 plus days here, but ive never seen so much change from day to day as i have in this heat.

Weather has SUCKED here on Big Island, Hawaii. We have not seen more than 4 days in a row of sun since February. It has been raining and grey most all of June and July so far. Humidity has been over 75% this whole year it seems. Im soo sick of the rain it hurts.

Up to a week ago, couldn't have asked for more. Marine Layer was burning off very early, if it even showed up at all. Almost constant ONshore winds were ruining the Surfing, but keeping the skies clear.

Exponential Vegging growth during those sunny daze.

Last few days have been more typical for Summer, with lingering and threatening High-Level Clouds, every day.

Now, there is a threat of rain for Tuesday 071712, especially for my Brothers farther North.... Crossing my fingers that my Healthy Light Dep Scene with 2-3 weeks to go will not get too moist. The Hoophouse is a touch "Ramshackle." The Buds super juicy. Starting to stack... Grape Romulan, Blue Cheese, Chiesel, Blue Dream. The 4 Casey Jones will take a couple weeks longer than the rest, and will finish out of the regimented 12 hour cycle.

Many people consider this area (within 5 or so miles from the Pacific) to be a "No Grow Zone," but I disagree. Not optimum, it presents its' own challenges.. Only one year out of several was really bad, and it was so for everyone, inland or otherwise.

2006 was known as a great year locally, and this one may equal or surpass it..

Question: Are at least some of us experiencing "1st week of Flowering?"
That would explain a nice stretch - of course..

Most of my plants are still in "Veg." But, some of My large seedmoms, as well as the "Cookies," "God's Gift," and others are beginning Flowering..

Good idea for a thread, Organic..!

Stasis, I went to visit a fellow gardeners grow in Forestville and their Bubba was clearing starting the transitional phase. However, Forestville like the name states, has many trees, and the climate is cooler due to its proximity to the ocean, not an ideal area to grow, but nonetheless people make it happen. Because of the density of the trees and aggressive rolling mountains, they experience a lot less sun than most. My garden is not too far away, but in a much different microclimate, and my Platinum Bubba’s continue to stretch. However, July 15th was a critical date, at 38.4 degrees Latitude, the sun is now approaching less than 14.5 hrs of light from twilight to twilight, thus the heavy dominate indicas’ should start to express the initial phase of flowering…very exciting this time of the year.

This is what I was going to say. Due to the crappy weather with overcast days over the last two weeks half my crop looks like it may be flowering. Either that or crazy veg growth.

Wouldn't mind if things started to flower early, but don't want no re-veg crap.

the weather in my area in the lower part of texas has been great all year untill 7 days ago when we got BLASTED with heavy down poor rain for 7 days long. :( I need it to stop cuz my plants cant handle this much water in there roots. + the rain was so hard that a few of leafs got knocked off my ladies. but the weather guy said the sun is back I just hopw the sun holds strong for me untill november.

also too much rain means that I dont get to feed my plants so that is another thing that makes my ladies suffer...

next year Im buying a green house it should help with rain and mold.

good luck to the rest of u guys summer and may ur harvest be big yield and buzz worthy...

Have seen some revegging.. On plants that were cruising along in veg.. Also, on Larger and more mature seed moms that decided to Flirt with going into Stage Two. The Funky round leaves are telltale signs.. Hate to see those.

Then there are those pesky Blue Dream Clones that were given to me fresh out of 18/6. Straight to flower in May. Been my job to get them back on track. Been good.

In addition, keeping up with Transplanting can be a bear, if you are one of those who believe that 2-4 transplants are something the plants like.. Or aren't as comfortable in the Growspace to put plants in the ground.

Unfortunately, transplanting can get out of hand. And some strains that experience any "Rootboundness" go into flower earlier than those of the same variety that have room for the roots.

This is my "Squirrel-Cage." Next year, all go in the ground..

Get ready for some possible sogginess Folks..! Shouldn't affect things too much at this stage of the game. But those Light Deps...
