This is a question for mainly hobbyists, not commercial producers who make rosin from pollen, hash, etc: For those of you who have done a rosin "squeeze" from small amounts of dried, cured flowers, which strains have produced a good yield, and which strains have produced a bad to no yield? Ever since learning about this method, I've become a "prick" with my chin up and shit and won't smoke anymore because the flavor/strength from vaped rosin is a game changer and sooo delicious! Plus, why smoke the leaf matter when you can have concentrated flavor and potency with less volume of smoke?
For some reason, I've had really poor yields on otherwise really greasy, crystally looking varieties, while on the other hand, some other buds that look equally greasy and crystally produced a snot-load of rosin. I suspect some varieties innately have a hard time "melting" due to their unique chemistry while others almost turn to water and separate effortlessly from the bud when heat pressed.
Here's my very limited experience:
Varieties with Good Rosin yields:
1)Any OG dominant hybrid (wow! seems like you can get every last drop of rosin out of the bud!)
2) C99
3) Killing Fields
Varieties with Poor Rosin Yields:
1) Northern lights and northern lights dominant hybrids
2) bubblicious, despite looking greasy and sticky as EF!
3) Herijuana
4) mandala#1
Of course, if you have a variety that doesn't "squeeze well" from the dried flowers, you can always do a dry sift or make some ice water hash to get good rosin yields, but that adds a layer of extra work and you'll need more than just a hair straightener. This post is intended for the marijuana connoisseur or any dum-dum that wants to produce rosin quickly.
Let's hear your experience!
