Golden Tiger Outdoor Tropical 21N

6 seeds, got 6 plants, all healthy n' happy
Strain = Golden Tiger

IMG_0296: GT#1 again

IMG_0297: GT#2, also 1 ft
img0297j.jpg

IMG_0298: GT#3 she is smaller but more thai dom I expect to see her explode these next few weeks.(confirmed female!)
img0298tz.jpg

GT #1,2,3 are all staying about 1 ft tall due to lack of water/ph/unfinished soil mixture. They have BEAUTIFUL buds right now, although small, I will probably get an 1.5 oz of the three of them! darn!

The girls in the second plot however, are nearly 4 feet tall, on little more than native soil! This I like. The soil in this plot is moister, it retains its moisture and the gt's love it! I will mimic this in the future.

They are being given basic commercial grade nutes (pretty much crappiest nutes u can buy, no fancy fox farms here) 20-20-20

UPDATE 9/29: 6/6 confirmed female!! 6 seeds six females, wow! GT must love the tropics to give me 6/6!

So heres to show the vigor and incredible growth of guerilla girls!!!!

Sorry for crappy pics, I promise high def professional photos when they are in flower!!! :)

if you resize 'em you should be able to post pics here. there are threads here at ic on how to do this. i just right click on one of my pics (windows) and cursor to resize and go medium on resize then upload to my ic photo gallery. from there you can copy image location and upload to your post using the icons above your post (second from right).

looking forward to progress reports! my fav-o-right strain!

6 seeds cracked, 6 healthy plants! no runts/duds or anything

IMG_0301: 8 " GT's, on the right is natty, left i topped, then supercropped. Even though dubi recommends to NOT top GT, The topped/supercropped looks better IMO.

Hello RedDirtWarrior,

You are right this is a great community :)

I wouldnt recommend to top Golden Tiger if you are growing the strain indoors one cola style in a crowded garden that lacks of horizontal space, but outdoors with long vegetative periods is another thing, she is a pure sativa with strong tropical roots and this kind of genetics react very well to topping, indeed is recommended.

Looks like your seedlings were much happier in their initial pots than straight planted in land, guess the soil lacks of nutrients, has a ph problem or the plants havent had enough water cos they lower leaves are yellowing and the stems are a bit thin. Golden Tiger doesnt need very high nutrients to perform correctly, usually outdoors with plenty of water and sun is enough for her correct development. Of course a good soil is a always a must to achieve best yield and avoid any health problem during the grow. I also see you planted them too close to each other, it's better to separate them 1 meter or more, take in mind golden tiger grows A LOT under correct conditions and long vegetative periods, if they are very close to each other the yield will be lower, receiving less light intensity and competing for the root space.

Doh!!! I have them in a spot exactly opposite, little water, lots of sun! haha! but they are not wilting at all! just staying small, I will be ok with smaller plants, maybe ill try and make an f2 generation!

Also the PM really gets to them here! I get "overnight PM" on these guys, because it rains/gets very most at night, then relatively dry in the daytime, so the PM gradually "eats away" at the leaf after a few wet nights. I believe this is why the leaves are falling off, you can kind of see it in this pic in the RED circle.

Hey dubi this gives me an idea, perhaps on your website you can have "growers notes" that goes BEYOND the small strain description you give. For example it would give more detailed descriptions of the plant, such as the fact that GT likes light nutrients and lots of water, and that it is susceptible to PM, or other things such as its root system characteristics (strong tropical roots on GT, I've noticed!) Or growth charactersistics/recommendations indoor/outdoor. The fact that is needs shorter veg time, does well untopped indoors/grows columnar. Stuff like that.

Or you could just leave a "comments" section under each strains page like nirvanas site does, letting growers post their results of the plant, I really like this about nirvana!

I think it would add a new element to the site that most other seedbanks don't have, and would help avid growers/breeders see which plant is best for their situation, or climate (as in my case).

had I known GT likes water I would have planted her down in the valley! Which is where I will be putting my next GT's!!! We will see how big they get!

And the reason they look so good as babies was because they were in jiffy starting mix! . ALSO it was raining likes crazy when they were young! Those little cups were absolutely saturated in water! So they really do love lots of water!

Dubi the reason for this is due to detection reasons, I need to keep the plots extremely small, with very few plants, the more holes, the easier they are to see (from the air!)

SO when they are babies I try to "guess" which one is male and which one is female, and I am pretty good at it! I put one suspect male and one suspect female in the same hole in hopes that I get a male and a female and can rip one out! SO far this has worked alright, doesn't rough up the area as much and I usually get one male one female. worst that has happened is I get two females in one hole! better than 2 males! hahaha

I notice I get higher female/male ratios here, I attribute it to the hawaiian sunshine and the consistent tradewinds bringing a warm, but at the same time cooling humid breeze off the ocean! the plants love it, its paradise :) Im sure if these GT girls had more water and no night time rains, they would be in heaven.

Hey ReddirtWararrior, we would like to see hawayan landscape :)
Yeah I use the same sistem of planting. Two females in one hole - no problem, what about two males :) oh yes you are in paradise there... SativaLand

2 males is ok too, I just pull em both, and then use the hole again for more plants! The holes are even better when they have been aged a bit.

really the worst is when you accidently put 2 females in one hole, I call it a thousand dollar mistake because you can miss out on as much as 25% or more yield by having 2 females in one hole rather than if they had had their own hole. So instead of getting 16 0z of two plants (in seperate holes), you would get 12 oz. This is what I have noticed working with a clone strain for several seasons.

i like to use a bit of fish mix or good seaweed as a folar feed to green up out door plants to green them up when the grounds really wet and they go pale

GT #1 , 2 and 3 are ALL females!!!! Got 2 females in one hole, oh well, it was a large 7-8 gallon hole.

and the rest are unconfirmed, I transplanted them from their cups about a week later which is why they are behind.

lets hope for 3 more girls!!!!!

Hey RDW where are pictures of your Sativaland :tumbleweed:
I dunno about 3 scrawny plants in crappy soil being "sativa land"

ill take a walk with my nice camera and get u guys some awesome pics.

hehehe forgot to bring my camera, Ill get you guys some pics in a few weeks after the heavy rains to show you some truely awesome plants!

They are getting big now that the rains have come, they look happy as hell even in crappy soil with chem nutes. Magical hawaiian rain it is!

Hello RedDirtWarrior,

to avoid powdery mildew spray on the leaf with sulfur, and especially before the start of flowering.

Thank you so much for the recommendation, we do our best with the descriptions, i think they are quite detailed and close to the reality of the but of course official descriptions can always be more detailed althought not always easy, websites, catalogues and envelopes require not very long descriptions.

Hope the Golden Tigers are doing fine :)
