Gold Country Grow 2020

Hello friends.

These are my starts for the next upcoming outdoor grow season. Got a late start last year moving into the new house. Didn’t get anything going until late June or early July. Can’t remember. Anywho I wanted to get a early jump on things this season. Going back to work full time as soon as the rain lets up here in Northern California so won’t leave me much time to work around the garden. My goal is to automate as much as possible to help me out a bit. I bought most of the material to build my 20’ x 40’ Light dep hoop house last year but didn’t get a chance to build it out. Waiting on tax return to purchase the gh plastic, blackout tarp as well as tarp motors, fans, timers and controls. As well as whatever else I will need to make a comfortable growing environment. Don’t have any experience building these or any knowledge of operating one but I guess we can dream right? Hoping to get her up in the next few weeks. Anyone with knowledge on building and operating a auto light dep would be very helpful.

Thanks and hope everyone else a healthy and successful 2020!

We have a bunch of seeds I made for fun about 4 or 5 years ago when I first started growing. My very first time growing I called my buddy who was about 10 years experience prior to me went in with me and we grew a Jack herer from seed. Sour diesel and plum crazy purple clones that his buddy has had for years. Long story short is the plum crazy purple was out of this world good. Tasty fat purple nugs that tasted of artificial grape . That year I found 2 seeds in that plum crazy purple. The next season I started a bunch of seeds that I bought online. Those two plum crazies ended up being males. So I took the best looking stud and threw them in my closet with that sour diesel. Also had critical sensi star and dr. Underground’s Melon gum.

Giving me what I call...
Sour Plum-sour diesel x plum crazy purple.
Plum gum-melon gum x plum crazy purple.
Critical plum-critical SS x P.C.P.
Also have some Blue dream x brown dirt warrior.
In house genetics purple animal cookies.

Happy frog with some added Edson salt and a shit ton of extra perlite! Thanks bud

that means you're supplementing the Magnesium & Sulfur of the Happy Frog, but not the Calcium.

with lime, you get calcium and magnesium.

so if you wanted a supplement with calcium & sulfur, that would be similar to Plaster of Paris. (Calcium Sulfate)

Do the plants care ?

I've met growers who swear by adding Sulfur - as much Sulfur as the Primary (NPK) nutrients.

I just have Edson salt on hand and heard it was good for transplant shock. So the lime you speak of is it the same lime I use at work on my construction site before we backfill our ditch? If so I’ll grab a 5 gal bucket from one of the totes we have here lol.

So I have a question regarding heating up my 8x8 grow tent.

Does anybody know of a quality space heater to heat up my grow tent. At the moment I have a duraflame space heater in there but my problem is it only runs for 8 hours and shuts off. It gets to mid 50’s in there when the lights shut off and I’m in the market for something that can run without having to go out to my carport. (where I have my tent located) twice a day. I go out right before bed and again right before I leave for work. I also want something that will not dry out the humidity in the tent as I all ready have trouble with low humidity.

Thanks in advance.

Powdered limestone, maybe it has to say dolomite or dolomitic lime, it may or may not say the % of calcium and magnesium on the bag. There are different sources or qualities grades I suppose, it comes in paper bags like concrete maybe at a farm supply or garden center instead of building supply store.

I'm not sure about space heaters but humidity can be raised with misters or foliar spray.

Maybe put your lights on 24 hours, that will help bring your temp up

If you are wanting calcium and sulphur, gypsum would be ideal, it also won’t affect ph like other limes will if that’s not needed.

Construction site lime is likely hydrated lime/slaked lime. Quick lime is more for drying in industrial uses. Worth verifying one way or another before using.
Hydrated lime can be used, it will raise ph if too much used. Whether or not it has magnesium or anything else depends on starting material before it went into the lime kiln.

Timing on those starts would be good for an early spring crop if you had a greenhouse up from late March to late May. Could start a second group April -May for full season outdoor.

Thanks yeah I wouldn’t use the lime without doing some testing for sure. My plan is to cut the males out as soon as they show sex which should be in the next couple of weeks. I may or may not keep a male or two to harvest some pollen if I get a good vibe from them. I will then take cuts of all the females and flower out the seeds to find some keepers. By then I hope to have my first batch of clones ready for the light dep. still trying to figure everything out. Hoping for some rain so I can get a few more weeks off of work as I am all ready back to my normal job working mon- sat 10 hour days. Stressing on getting this 20’ by 40’ Light dep gh built and ready. I may also throw the seeds I have outside and grow them full season in 200 gal beds with supplemental lights and try and grow some hogs. Time will tell.

got Some cuts from my good buddy this weekend. Had to transplant them into 1 gal pots and keep them in the dog kennel for the night so the cats don’t get to them lol. Hope they don’t freeze tonight.

17 - Ice cream cake.
4 - Garlic Juice.
1 - Meat Breath.

Tent is filling up quick. Top dressed them with some organic fertilizer I found at my local nursery. E.B. Stone tomato and vegetable food and some worm castings. Plants seem to like the food.
