Negril is fairly safe all around as long as you are street smart, the Orange Hill area is where the most killer is. This is in the west end, which I guess could be considered the most unsavory area, since it lies on the fringe of the tourist areas.

If you are looking for the best herb, ask for either the Orange Hill... or de Ighest (the highest grade). It's best to refuse the first offering as it ususally will get better the more persistent you are. Unless you see something absolutely stellar on the first show, which is unlikely. Also, ask for the Gumms, which what they call hash. Or you can just ask for hash :D

Check out Alfreds on the beach for live music and also some dancehall. I like that bar the best. The taxi drivers will be able to tell you where the hot spot is for each night (live reggae music) I am not sure if Ricks will be opened (they got destroyed by hurricane Ivan, but are rebuilding and should be done by now) If Ricks is closed and you are looking to do some cliff jumping, check out Pirates Cave instead. It's better I think anyway, more of a local flair, not so toursity. The best restaurants are on the cliff side as well.

Where are you staying? If you are near Beach House Villas, go out in front of their bar and ask for Jim. He will take care of you, but be stern with him :D Also, send Bubbleman a PM, if he checks it - he will be able to hook you up with another guy down there more towards the cliffs. I cant just pass it along because it's his hook up. I hope you understand. But he should respond as long as he checks in.

Ask away if you have more questions, I was just down in June.

Good Luck -m

Well, The Jerk Hut in town is pretty good if you like traditional Jerk. Come to think of it, I didnt have bad jerk anywhere. I love Jerk. Jerk, Jerk, Jerk....

But if you are looking for nice restaraunts, I can defintely recommend the Rockhouse. That is the best is far as I am concerned. You will love it. I went there a few times in one trip. Both food and atmosphere..... Also Xtabi on the rocks is another really good one for atmosphere and food. Both are in the West end on the cliffs.

Local smaller joints are up and down the beach.... I like to stay on the beaches until late afternoon, then roll down to the cliffs for dinnner and all that.... I think negril.com has a bunch of maps that list all the hotels and restaraunts and their locations. print some of those....

Defintely check out Pirates Cave for a late afternoon into evening. Get some drinks and snacks, jump the cliffs, and the sunset will be top notch.

If you are at Hedonism, well that will be an experience in itself. A friend of mine did a sex show in the pool in front of about 30 people chanting his name. This was on a previous trip, before I got married..... Pure Comedy.

If you dont hear from BM before the trip, PM me, I dont think he would mind if I helped you out with his pal. There are some rules though...

It's a bit spicey while having a sweetness to it. I believe it uses fruit juices and scotch bonnet chili's as the base. Good shit to come back to after a long night out at a reggae show. :yummy: We had the kids at cool browns save us jerk each night wrapped up and left on the grill after they all left for the evening - so at 2am we had DA BEST MON! Warm from the dead grill and perfect for the atmosphere. Just got to remember where the grill is :D

i am back

Well i love Jam-rock. I have been to many carib destinations(spell) and i have found my fav. The bud was stellar(though it was seedy). A few times i had to slam drinks to bring myself down. The first bud i got also the most exspensive was a seedy haze. Well worth the $20 us for a little under a 1\2 o. i would guess 10 grams. Very uplifting. The stems were huge but the seeds were all whities. The next bud this man called g-13( funny how name sakes travel, but well it was the stickiest bud i have had in a while. Nice stone and no seeds but it had no taste. It kind of smelt like a seed burning. This bud did make me return home one night to check for my wallet( seems you can never get used to having to wear no clothing) while i was nude.. Reminicent (spell or smell) of the first skunk i have tried, about 15 years ago. Hash was ok, a little racy for me, but i am an indica man. Most of the bud was the same, all of it seemed to be left grow untill it was past fully mature, all of the trics were amber almost brownish. This did not matter as far as stoner potency, all the bud seemed to make me feel a little shakie and invoked some anxiety (spell) . Well i mean the opp. of a stony indica. I don't mean to repeat myself but if you are used to commercial US or any high test indica strain you may not like how ripped this bud gets you. The bud i tried also seemed to have some mildow. I bought from 5-6 different guys after refusing there first offerings, but none of it seemed to be be properly dried. it was all dry ass a bone when i got it it but at one time it must has sat humid. I deffinatly recomend jama as an destonation for all stoners. There is just something to be said for how different good out door is as compaired to good indoor. Also if you are into crzay shit go to hedonism II. Crazy is all i have to say.
Respect.

I haven't been back to Negril since 1975, great to hear Cool Browns is still in business. I saw Toots and the Maytalls perform there before they became known. Pirates Cave is an awesome spot, though the name was changed many years ago. There used to be a fellow named Jano who lived right across the road from their. At the time, he was the best hook up in Negril. If you run across any one selling mushroom tea, try it, it's the bomb.
