Going to amsterdam - need some help

Hey everyone, as the name says, i am traveleing to amsterdam may 19- may 26.... i am staying at the NH Amsterdam Hotel . Has anyone heard of it or stayed there before... it looks nice and i got a pretty good deal... its close to all the musuems i believe and im pretty sure its located in the leidsplein? (SP) ... i think thats what its called.

Anyway... just need some help trying to plan my trip... anything cool i should definetely check out other than the coffee shops and museums... what are some of the best coffee shops close by and how far am i from seeds direct?

the seed boutique shop is two minutes walk from Dam square
leidseplein isnt far from the Dam square and trams are available every 5 minutes

personally i'd prefer not to be in leidseplein. went to amsterdam in october and spent a lot of time down there - when you're the highest you've ever been, all them damn canals and sidestreets get REALLY confusing. it took me a good 3 hours to get back to leidseplein from dam square at times....LOL

prepare for the ride of your life dude damn, my mouth is watering. I think I might have to go to the NL again this year. damn dutch are taking all my money

Yeah I went there one time in the summer in June and one time over new years. Dont ever go on New Year's Eve and think u can just sit down in a coffee shop. I was tripping on Hawaiians that night and couldn't find a free spot in a coffee shop it was very frustrating. And after mid night the largest firework fight I have ever seen in my life happened. Next time im gonna come with my own ammo

also...take the walk out of the main part of town to The Media. Its the only all organic shop in all of Amsterdam. Might not be on the map they have everywhere but its worth the walk. Also Barney's has a wonderful breakfast and with his amnesia haze is a dope way to start the day.

When I stayed at Hotels.. I had stayed at this particulat hotel BUT... when I stayed it was owned by Golden Tulip and shortly after changed hands.....

They are actually right ouside leidsplein... BUT... they NEVER gave me grief about smoking ganja.... Stayed at the Barbizon Palace and Victoria and BOTH made me put a towel under the door.....

My best story was the Barbizon Palace and Laughing Buddha..... They put me in the FRONT on the 2nd floor..... Smoked a spliff or 3 of LB and went out to get something..... When I came back the Manager and Assistant where smelling outside all the doors and trying to pinpoint where it came from.....

I hope they still fill the bins with fresh apples!! That was the best thing about staying so far out..... The free unlimited supply of fresh apples!!

I agree that the best times are when the tourists are still home......

Feb.... totally dead.... I loved it!!

But again, I came in june just after the solstice and having 10 pm days was very cool too......

so niemand - am i really far away? i thought there were lots of things to do near the NH amsterdam centre hotel... i noticed a few coffeeshops close by...

You're not too far...there's a Bulldog right in Leidseplein but it sucks, don't go there. Also another tip is if you're buying hash, make sure it smells good and is nice n soft. I got sold some shitty hash in a couple of coffeeshops there...guess it was just old. Most Dutch people love their Moroccan hashes.

SORRY... Don't want to give that impression AT ALL.....

Its a tiny bit outta the way but not really....... Just make sure that if you are a Soda drinker that you dont purchase them right across the street... rip-off

But its close enough to leidsplein that coffeeshops (GOOD C/S's) wont be a problem!!

And since they are NOT too ridgid.... its a nice place!

Enjoy your visit! and make sure to hit the shoppe in singel!!

Yeah, the dutch love their Moroccan but sell whatever will bare!!

Use glocks advice and BE SURE before you buy.....

I got some local hash (Coffeeshop prices but its important to support people DOING what I want to do!!) and Nol had some real nice hash....

All the Amnesia Bubble to test and some real nice Cream to buy!

Goodbyebluesky - i noticed the noon is one of the closest coffeeshops on the map to my hotel... hopefully its a good one ...

everyday i get more and more excited. i cant wait to be smoking away in the a-dam!

how far away would u say the seed boutique is from my hotel?

the grey area is right by seedboutique. might as well kill 2 birds with one stone. thats up near dam square, while you'll be a lil further site. about 10-15 mins on the tram.

I've stayed at that hotel everytime I went. You are twenty minutes brisk walking from Central Station (ie: the other side of town), so in other words you are not far from ANYWHERE! Closest coffeeshop is the Noon, but Rookies Bar, The Dolphin and de Rokerijj are also close. You must try the honey hash at the Noon. Be sure to visit the Van Gogh museum and when you get to the NH say hello to Marcel the doorman from his wheelchair riding fellow NASCAR fan. Enjoy!

P.S. If you get to the Grey Area say hello to Jon and have him roll you up one of my "specials"...Grey Mist and Yellow Cab weed with a dusting of Grey Mist crystal.

I got crappy manali fingers at coffeeshop bagheera..their best moroccan really was the best..never seen such good moroccan hash! i also got some crappy black hash at baba...i believe it was manali. their caramello hash was good though.
