Going Out of Town..What To Do with Plants

[I Used To Grow]

I am going out of town for a week in a few days and need some ideas as to what I can do with my plants. I have a few options...

1. Leave them growing in my apartment in my bedroom closet while a trustworthy friend watches them.

2. Leave them at said friend's trailer while he takes care of them.

3. Leave the plants in the dark hidden in my apartment for a week.

Anyone think any of these options are any good? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm leaning towards just leaving them in the dark hidden in my apt while I'm gone.

I have 4 plants...2 Sour Thai and 2 Big Bud.

Yeah, I figured the week in dark would screw them up bad. No, can't set up a timer and res...it's a soil grow with a measly floro right now..will be 3 floro grow by September though.

My friend, one of my only friends, is very trustworthy. He's a stand up guy and would hate to see me go down for 4 measly plants. He's the only one who knows about my grow. There are good people out there and he happens to be one of them. What would he have to gain by getting me busted or trashing my grow? If he was associated with me for growing he would lose his job. Believe me, he's a good guy.

Nevermind..they are vegging right now..kinda small as I only have one 33w floro. Should be growing under 3 floros by September though.

I will be gone 8 days.

I'm thinking that moving them to my friend's trailer will be the best solution since landlords and maintenance men won't be in his trailer snooping around.

I would hate to leave them at my apt. because the maintnence guy can snoop around my place without permission..he came into my apt. in May and left the door unlocked with a computer, TV, PS2, Stereo in the apt.

If they are just vegging then you'll be better of leaving them at your home. Get a large rubbermaid tub , put plants in it and water the shit out of them. They should take 3 days to suck up the water and anothe rfew days to dry out. Maybe have your friend come by on day 5 and make sure they are ok, but besides that in veg I would just leave light on 24/7 and you'll be fine

I'm a little worried about my landlord or maintnance man coming in and checking on stuff to fix though. I put in a request like 2 months ago but they have yet to come byand fix anything. If they haven't come by I think I should be ok.

I'm confused.

1. Having a friend come over once in a while will keep a maintenance guy from coming in? What about while this friend is at work??

2. At the friend's trailer they would be safe, however I hate transporting plants back and forth (unless they fit in a box) and lights, it's suspicious and stressfull.

3. Leaving the plants hidden in the dark for a week is a long time. What difference would it be if the maintenance guy comes to snoop anyway? I like the 24 hour light with plenty of water thing, lock your door maybe?, or have your friend pop by once in a while, I still see no difference from #1

Well thank you very much. I havent been told i rock in a long time but I'll take it!! Glad i could help.

call Maintanence and tell them forget it. They took two months and thats too loong. tell them you fixed whatever it was yourself. Also make sure your grow room has a door with a lock and key. That way if the handy man comes by he can only be in living room or kitchen. No reason for them to be in a bedroom. Get a lock.

But yeah having freind come by on day 5 would be solid. All he has to do is check if soil is dry and water, maybe rotate the plants but thats it. I wouldnt involve a friend in a grow, but thats just me.

My friend Sun simulator once told me he treats a plant like a dead body, and you dont invie friends to come over and look at a dead body unless you want to go to jail. Just some friendly advice

alright...Nevermind you're advice is great.

I too would not have told anyone about my grow but I can't just leave them in the dark for a week. I can't change the lock on my bedroom door cuz I just don't have the cash handy to do that. I think I will tell my landlord to just forget about the shit that wasn't fixed when I moved in so it's too late now. I don't think they will be by any time soon.

The best thing I can do is just have my friend come by on day 5 of my vacation and water them if they need it and move them around under the light according to height.

Like someone else said, by a new doornob with a lock on it on the door in the room that the plants are in. It doesn't look suspicious, as to say your landlord saw it. It's just extra privacy. And obviously your landlord won't have the key. Give them a good watering, give them space as to make sure your plants won't grow into the lights, and on top of all that have your trusted-buddy check a couple times to make sure everything is cool. Despite what everyone says, there are trustworthy people in this world. Maybe not as many as we'd like, but if you feel that you can trust this person, and if you don't question yourself about it, then more power to you.

We're on holliday quite a lot so I know the sittuation very well. I generally overwater them on the day we leave, they're mostly ok for about a week after that :wink:

I have come back before to find the timer had broken in the meantime, and the plants were ok, so even leaving them wouldn't kill em....

I will have my friend come over early next week to check on them while the lights will be on all day and all night.
