It's possible the California legislature might go ahead and make the rest of the supply-side legal. If the Feds keep out of the State for the rest of just one term, the "War on Pot" will be over for all intents and purposes.

So ... what are the best suggestions for building a decent sized, legal, production facility?

Can be either totally sun-powered, with supplemental lights, or all indoor.

What are the pro's using now?

Is all the bulk weed done hydro, or is some still grown in soil based media?

Certainly a low-carbon footprint, greenhouse based system would be preferred, since the sun is free, but water use must also be figured in. If it's legal, then the run-off will have to be cool as well. No unregistered chemicals.

Any suggestions would certainly be appreciated.

Few thousand acres, Subsurface Drip Irrigation to conserve water, Farm Equipment (probably gonna cost a ton and alot of time at John Deere), Massive Commercial Trimmers, Drying Houses with Climate Control, Curing Housing with Climate Control and one hell of a Supply chain.. no greenhouse required.


But uh... ya its not gonna happen so keep dreaming for now be happy with the mountain streams and being out in the wonderful outdoors

Dude bulk weed is grown in the ground just like it has always been grown. I believe in the outdoor section there is a thread on commercial growing.

For serious breeding, and testing purposes, it's almost required.

Glad to hear that outdoor grows still dominate the industry out there.

We'd rather go that route, but the old "guerilla grower" action leaves a lot to be desired. In the meantime, State and Federal lands will continue to be exploited by the Mexican cartels in ways that ruin the environment. Private land grows, though vunerable to rippoffs, could be the best option with lower initial costs.

If it was legal there would be alot less indoor if not much at all being produced commercially, with the high prices indoor is practical and theres alot of little guys producing a few lbs here and there that are top notch it adds up, electricity/equipment/real estate costs alot of money, I just dont see it happening unless the prices remained high.

If it was legal the price would be waaaay lower, maybe 1/10th what it is now.

Ask yourself this, do you know anyone who grows tobacco? Do you know any food farmers? Probably not.

If it goes commercial it will become a question of, "Do I pay 10 times what it would cost me to buy it, so that I can grow my own?"

Invest in American Spirit or the first big tobacco company to start mass producing, you'll have a better return on investment.

On top of all this if they make it legal their going to set standards, as far as growing it "IF" they let that. It will most likely be legal, but not legally grown or else they would have people who want to grow huge farms of marijuana and sell it to other states where it's not legal and prices haven't changed. Other then that yes the cartels down in mexico or where ever they may be have huge farm's they just take handful's of seeds chunk em out there and let it go.(schwag)

If anything go with Dosatron hydraulic piston doser as your nutrient dosing system. I've personally worked with them. They are bullet proof, run by the water passing through them and have adjustable dosing ratios.

They may not be as cheap as electronic dosers but when it comes to maintenance your pocket will thank you.

Also no extra pumps or wires, maybe a few cheap electric valves to turn the flow to them on and off is about it.
