    .
  176. "Ben Santer and the 1995 IPCC report"
The IPCC operates by consensus. Ben Santer could not have and did not single-handedly alter the 1995 IPCC report. Accusations to the contrary are simply an attempt to re-write history.
    .
  177. "CO2 limits won't cool the planet"
CO2 limits won't cool the planet, but they can make the difference between continued accelerating global warming to catastrophic levels vs. slowing and eventually stopping the warming at hopefully safe levels
    .
  178. "It's a climate shift step function caused by natural cycles"
Natural cycles superimposed on a linear warming trend can be mistaken for step changes, but the underlying warming is caused by the external radiative forcing.
    .
  179. "Royal Society embraces skepticism"
The Royal Society still strongly state that human activity is the dominant cause of global warming.
    .
  180. "It's only a few degrees"
A few degrees of global warming has a huge impact on ice sheets, sea levels and other aspects of climate.
    .
  181. "It's satellite microwave transmissions"
Satellite transmissions are extremely small and irrelevant.
    .
  182. "CO2 only causes 35% of global warming"
CO2 and corresponding water vapor feedback are the biggest cause of global warming.
    .
  183. "IPCC graph showing accelerating trends is misleading"
All of the statements made in the IPCC report regarding the figure in question are correct and supported.
    .
  184. "Sea level fell in 2010"
The temporary drop in sea level in 2010 was due to intense land flooding caused by a strong La Nina.
    .
  185. "Arctic sea ice extent was lower in the past"
Current Arctic sea ice extent is the lowest in the past several thousand years.
    .
  186. "Climate change isn't increasing extreme weather damage costs"
The data and research are unclear whether climate change is increasing extreme weather damage costs, but many types of extreme weather are becoming more intense and/or frequent, and disaster costs from extreme weather events are rising.
    .
  187. "UAH atmospheric temperatures prove climate models and/or surface temperature data sets are wrong"
The most likely explanation for UAH data warming less than expected is that the UAH data set is biased low.
    .
  188. "IPCC human-caused global warming attribution confidence is unfounded"
The IPCC 95% confidence that humans are responsible for most of the current global warming is simply a summary of the peer-reviewed scientific research.
    .
  189. "We didn't have global warming during the Industrial Revolution"
CO2 emissions were much smaller 100 years ago.
    .
  190. "Ljungqvist broke the hockey stick"
Ljungqvist's temperature reconstruction is very similar to other reconstructions by Moberg and Mann.
    .
  191. "Hansen predicted the West Side Highway would be underwater"
Hansen was speculating on changes that might happen if CO2 doubled.
    .
  192. "Removing all CO2 would make little difference"
Removing CO2 would cause most water in the air to rain out and cancel most of the greenhouse effect.
    .
  193. "Great Barrier Reef is in good shape"
Evidence clearly shows that both ocean warming and acidification due to human CO2 emissions are damaging the Great Barrier Reef
    .
  194. "Loehle and Scafetta find a 60 year cycle causing global warming"
Loehle and Scafetta's paper is nothing more than a curve fitting exercise with no physical basis using an overly simplistic model.
    .
  195. "Postma disproved the greenhouse effect"
Postma's model contains many simple errors; in no way does Postma undermine the existence or necessity of the greenhouse effect.
    .
  196. "Underground temperatures control climate"
The amount of heat energy coming out of the Earth is too small to even be worth considering.
    .
  197. "Humans survived past climate changes"
Humans have been through climate changes before- but mostly cold ones and mostly in our far distant past.
    .
  198. "Heatwaves have happened before"
Global warming is increasing the frequency, duration and intensity of heatwaves.
    .
  199. "Something about nitrogen hot baths cooling or some shit"
    Total bullshit.

You forgot about cold ice baths, global maximums, that glaciers are really expanding all over the world, and you're saying that the laws of physics work differently on Venus! And that you can't heat a rock without also cooling it! Prove me wrong muthafucka!

You can't can you? I here krickets and the silence is def Leoparding! QED, GED, and quid pro quo!

But isn't it the guberment poisoning the atmosphere with chem-trails and weather manipulation machines for population control?

All that CO2 supplementation. CO2 levels now are way above the 389 ppm recommended by grow-books in the 1980's.

In other words, all plants world-wide, now receive the same CO2 as if they were grown by a manic Cannabis grower, obsessed with maximizing plant growth.

Every single plant.

Of course the end result is more flammable fuel, in a very dangerous place - "urban interface".

People can dismiss Global Warming all they want. They are self-destructive to ignore urban interface wildfires.

Paradoxically, California, whose culture may have promoted the Global Warming/ Climate Change theme more than any other, is not taking their own advice.

There's little to do but, pull up the Popcorn, and see how October un-folds for the Golden (crispy fried) State.

The information in the geologic record is indisputable - Increased atmospheric CO2 levels>Higher atmospheric temperatures>Higher sea levels>Mass extinction events. At least several cycles have been observed.

But wading through all of that hard science is tedious. It's much more convenient to play up current violent weather, droughts, floods, forest fires, etc. The accuracy of the models is dubious, but the drama plays well.

Fact is, like it or not, the rising water is coming, and at this point, there's no way to stop it. It's going to be a case of adapt or die.

You don't have to wade through geological records to know how an increase in ocean water temperatures in the Caribbean will make hurricanes stronger.

We've been controlling fires by putting them out and adding to the fuel. It's a big problem and I don't know how they can fix that.

Cannabis plants reduce carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.

So that's what happened and I'm not changing my story Mr. Big.

Can recall thinking I would never see anything like Camille again.
Never thought it was merely a forward indicator.
Floored by the increase of intensity and storm size since
the sixties.
Best of wishes for those who must deal with this.

3 ways, one of them adds CO2 to the atmosphere -

* Burn it, to get the job done quickly all that's needed is systematic controlled burns near all urban interface forests. e.g. the Pinelands in New Jersey.

* Bury it. CO2 stays intact.

* Use it in a piece of furniture or something. Or a house.

To understand why be concerned about wildfires, I suggest the book, "For Those I Loved", by Martin Gray.

Martin survived WW2 internment camps in Germany. When he moved to NYC after the war he was very successful in business & met his wife. He moved his family to France, where they perished when he was trying to rescue them from a wildfire. So he had lost his family twice.

People should know enough about Climate Change to protect their families.

The rest of it is mostly just something that provides a source of content, so that advertising can be sold.

The bottom line for some of the deniers like Rush Limbaugh is that the Earth is too huge for man to impact.

When you have millions of people living like kings, collectively we have a larger impact than if everyone lived a minimal consumption Zen monk or priest kind of life.

He should buy a 1000 acres in the forest part of the Pinelands, and let his wife live there. Then see what he thinks about climate change.

lol another thread for the true believers. or :confused: as i like to call ya's

have you all seen the latest scare mongering from the IPCC
give up the heater in winter, stop eating meat and phase out all coal
or we're all going to enjoy some nice weather,
its the middle of spring here, still to cold for gunja to go outside, be another 3 weeks, same as the last 30 years lol lol

Is 50 years enough to make a judgment about a definite change in that part of the weather ?

I remember a few years ago there were some articles about adding "Cat 6" to the Hurricane scale, like it was a new thing.

I got the impression that the heat waves in Europe in the 00's, that killed 10's of thousands of Europeans, was one of the reasons they decided to take Climate Change seriously.

Though most geologic processes occur over 1000's of years.

Europe can mobilize to keep their people cool during heat waves without the many questions of Climate Change being answered.

One of the bottom lines of any climate change discussion is how it intersects with population growth.

If there were only 100,000 on Earth, we would have neither man-made climate change and there would be plenty of room for everybody if the climate did change.

We'll wait it out, and the needle dicks in power will screetch
why no one warned them about it.

And global corporations will reap billions in a quick fix,
while the innerwebs will offer clickbait on how to fix it:

"Global crisis averted, you won't believe how this guy made
food with nothing but ..."

And our grandchildren will grow up in a world that makes
the challenges we face now seem like tiddly winks.

Two generations, that all folks.

Silly human race.
