so I think i have decided tonight that i'm going to tear down my pitiful grow and wait til i own some property and live in a friendlier state. I was just ready to bust out my 150w hps instead of the 120w of cfl in my little cab (yea yea laugh it up, i notice a lot of big scale people lurk these parts).

I read a few stories on here that hit close to home and dont want to fuck up my future on a few weak harvests (fuck up as in i'm still in school and would lose all financial aid). I recently had a big water leak in the apt (not from me, but the old shitty water pipes) and the maintenance guy came over to check it out and then later came back when i was gone to fix it (without my consent to come in while i was away). Just shit like that keeps me awake an extra half hour at night.

Or a few weeks back when i see flashing lights out the window and see two firetrucks and a couple cop cars outside. Just a false fire alarm but shit can happen.


Anyways...am i being a huge wuss or should i just suck it up for a year or two and buy at a ridiculous price, then get my dream set up going?
My set up is pretty small so maybe i would just get a slap on the wrist but i dont want to mess up my dreams of having my own business someday

I totally understand your anxiety about the grow and think it would just get worse as the plants begin to smell.

So you've got two options as I see it:

1. Scale down the grow to a microgrow in a space which you can keep stealthy (there are a million things you can do to make it very discreet).

2. Quit the grow until you're in a more hospitable environment.

You have to weigh up exactly how likely it is that someone sees what you're doing, how stiff the penalty would be, and how much you want your own grown weed. Is it worth it?

Sometimes it's just not.

if it is making you anxious then stop. everyone deals with a bit of fear about being busted but if your grow is only small and you're constantly worrying about it then it might be better to stop. and with 120w cfl you prob arent keeping yourself in smoke anyway. do what feels right and makes you happy. if after a coupla weeks you want to start again then do so. you don't have to wait years. anyway, up to you man but look after your peace of mind ... that's what it's all about anyway...

Go outside next spring. You can grow enough in 1 summer to keep you through all 4 years of college. Hell this year I will have enough to send a heavy smoker through junior and senior highschool, college and med school.

yea thats what i was thinking about last night in bed

my grow is pretty stealth as it is. my mothers are in my stealth computer case and the flower room is in a nightstand next to my bed. the chances are pretty slim of it getting noticed.... but i really would hate to see my gf go down with me if something were to happen. her parents would murder me

Dude from the sound of it, the maintenance man would have to look through your possessions to find your grow, and if he's doing that, he'd be more of a thief than a narc.

we did have a weird situation when we first moved in last fall... the maintenance guy came and went through our cupboards and opened a can of fruit. so odd.

so my grow is all stealth and i do have odor control. the only way i could get caught:
1. if maintenance guy went into the bedroom, opened my computer, or saw the nightstand behind the bed in the corner and busted open the hidden lock. also the random occurrence of him walking in while im cloning in the kitchen or something
2. fire occurs and firemen search through the building but even then they probably wouldnt notice anything
3. her parents come to visit and notice the new nightstand (but they never go in the bedroom, or would know if its new or not)
4. i smoke out on the deck, so if a cop were to come by and smell it he could then search the apt. probably wouldnt even find the grow


i tried to do some research on busted grows in the area/state but not much came up except for big operations where people were selling. even they there are sparse cases of this happening. i feel like the average joe cop from my area wouldn't be able to find the grow if he did get access into my place

but still theres that slim chance... fuck

Your biggest problem seems to be the maintenance man. He sounds like a thief, a klepto fucking maniac, etc, etc. Either change the lock on your front door or put a lock w/key on your bedroom door to keep that asshole out.

As far as the other secnarios, if your gf's 'rents came in looking through your shit, go to their house and look through theirs. The FD won't go looking through your belongings unless they are investigating the source of a fire. If you're worried about the pigs, then don't smoke on the deck.

Just use your head and do what you think is right. Or if you've been known to be wrong often, then do the opposite of what you think is right.

can you make a stipulation with the apt management so no one is allowed to enter when you're not there (tell them you have expensive computer equipment or something...)? if not and that maintinence man is allowed to enter at any time then perhaps it is for the best to hold off. or maybe you can find a friend who has a safe grow spot and go in with him/her? it's always a bummer to have to pull down a grow but a record is much worse...

i really couldnt afford to hire a decent attorney either and dont think my parents would help me. so i'm going to move my flowering plants outside to finish up and then order some seeds for next season outdoors

Sounds like no matter what you end up doing you need to change your locks. That maintenance guy sounds sketchy. He sounds like he should be fired.

If you have that many doubts about the security of your grow, I'd recommend tearing it down until you can feel safe. Better safe than sorry IMHO. Grow outdoors or wait till you have a secure location

get a webcam..then get a program that turns webcams into security cams..this program has motion sensior options, so have the comp and webcam in the living room buy a lock for you bedroom door. the webcam will automatically take a picture of whoever enters you house while your not in.. and the program has options like you can have it email your phone after a picture was taken, also you can add recorded messages or sounds that will alert whoever enters. ie " you have entered my apartment illegally without my permission, and are on video please leave and return when i am present or you have my consent" something like that. this way youll atleast have peace of mind that there will be no more snooping and youll know the second someone does and youll have a nice crisp picture of their face.. i forgot the name of the program google how to turn a webcam into a security cam.
