So you shroomers, give me the low down here.

Being the giant nerd I am, when I was younger I actually sat down and researched drugs to come up with a list of ones I wanted to try. The list was Pot, Shrooms, and Ecstasy.

Obviously, I've got the pot taken care of :D

Ecstasy I'll probably never actually try, due to my overzealous research. I can't be sure the dude selling them knows the difference between MDA and MDMA, since it's a very easy mistake to make in the cooking process. Plus, I'm not sure what else is there, etc. Basically, I'd have to know and trust the person providing them 100%, or make it myself, and neither of those is likely to happen :D

That leaves me with shrooms on the list. I was all set and ready to try some, and was planning on grabbing some peanut butter cups to try on a camping trip. Apparently though, the guy was preparing for a different camping trip, and got tagged with 500 cups prepped for Bonnaroo :badday:

With no other connects, it looks like my only option is to grow my own. But, I'm leery of putting in the time, effort, and money to grow something I've never tried. I have no idea what to expect, or even if I'll like it.

Sooooo, tell me about it. Is it worth it? How does it compare to pot, if at all? Give me an idea of what these fungi are all about!

How to grow them wasn't my concern, I've been to shroomery and researched techniques and such. I just want people to tell me about their experiences, so I can decide if it is worth the effort.

Its worth the effort I too grew some with a shroom kit from the same place my friend did it only cost 85 (120-140 something for the beginners kit that comes with instructional dvd) for the refill kit and came with a 5 pound compost bag and everything else included got quality yeilds and its super easy.. I would recommend it to anyone growing shrooms for the 1st time

This is a great question which leads to the only answer... you MUST try them for yourself at least once. I can't say what they will do for you, but I can share a little of my experience with them. They basically changed the whole way that I look at the world. For me, they really showed my that to some degree reality is completely perceptional. They have the ability take the religion of science and crush it in an instant. Before I experimented with psychedelics I had the view that my mind, my perception... it's just the way it is for everyone. Psychedelics show you that this is NOT the case, and that your perception of reality is just 1 of many possible states of mind. Now when I open my door and look out into grey and grimey city, all I see is paradise.

It's really hard to say what is going to happen, and you'll understand what I mean after you've tried them. They open up doors that you didn't even realise existed, and probably never would have...

Maybe Terence can explain this a little better than me --> CHECK THIS

Psychedelics are serious stuff, but that's not a reason to shy away. Buckle in, down the hatch and dig deep my man.

Have a great journey my friend :D

One of the reasons it 'made my list', is because of its ancient roots in shamanism.

I think that if my ancestors used this to speak to the universe, then if I should do the same, then we will touch for that instant across time, and I would gain the wisdom of ages.

Probably just drivel to most people, but that is what truly draws my interest in shrooms, that touchstone through time and spirit.

Have no clue though :D

I liked acid better for the doors of perception it had ....ah the good old days .. ... I'm pretty much all done tripping though
3 double thick windowpanes(gel tabs) did the trick back in '97 ...I was tripping for 48 hours, shit man the peak lasted 18 hours alone...
I have tried many strains of cubensis'
cubes are more of a body buzz , not very visual (campared with acid) Psilocybe baeocystis are the most visual of the mushrooms, but good luck growing those or even finding spore prints..
If you go to any of those huge Festivals you can find tons of chocolates.. just ask around...
there probably is a Pretty Big College/Town around you, go see a Grateful dead/Phish cover band I'm sure you will find what you are looking for... also try to ask how many grams there is per chocolate a lot of people skimp. Try to ingest 1 1/2 grams your 1st time. People so many times, are Leary of trying something new, so they eat a little/.5g and wait and wait and wait and wonder why they don't feel anything. If you are going to trip, TRIP

You sound like growing Mushroom are easy.
Have you heard of sterile culture???????
Growing mushies are totally another can of worms compared to MJ or for that fact any plant..
Have you ever tried to distinguish different types of mold/fungus from each other? Trichoderma, Penicillium, Aspergillus molds the list goes on and on
You get hit and your whole crop is toast!!!! You can't limp through with weak yields, like MJ getting hit with PM or something.
Just wanted you to realize growing mushrooms is 3 times harder than growing MJ commercially speaking, from my experience

Nope, not trying to underestimate the complications of growing them, in fact, that's why I asked.

I realize what a pain it is doing it right, and I want to know if it is worth all that :D

From what you described above, sounds like what I was hoping it would.

Don't let this guy fool you my friend....I researched good ol shroomery myself after stumbling upon a site that sold spore syringes...First run I used 2 different set ups...One with rye and straw, One with the BRF (brown rice flower. ) Got over a pound of flushes after I cased the straw with a horse manure casing mixture before it crapped out. Got over a QP from the low yield brf tek. (Multiple flushes with the dunk and roll technique.)

Mind you this was one nights of research....
As long as your environment and yourself are clean, this shit is a breeze.
Lysol and rubbing alcohol are your best friends.

If you are too Tripped out about taking E then Hang On for the Roller Coaster ride of a Lifetime. Instead of simply buzzing along in some Dance Party. You are gonna find things a little strange after about 33mins to <45mins. Shadows will move it seems and you may need to be alone or with good friends you trust. Just walk through Fields in which Cows have been early morning after a couple of days rain.

To go trough life and not discover shrooms, is like never discovering sex..
Have had my share of psycedelics, and good shrooms are the only thing ill do again..
Last time was summer 09 a friend brought
Copelandia cyanescens from amsterdam.
We ate 1g each sitting on his balcony overlooking the sea.
The effects came on pretty fast, as i was rolling some joints with some good maroc for the trip, i barely managed to finish joint2 before coordintation failed me.
I feelt a heavy bodystone coming on with blurred vision at first, clouds started morphing into strange things boats where flying at what seemed unbeliveable speeds over the water.
It started to feel like i was drifting out the balcony at the 6th floor so we decided to go inside. The bodystone was now coming on very strong, and i melted into the couch, kaledioscope type visions and very vivid colors, started feeling a little nausea and crawled my way to the toilet..
While puking my guts out i saw a great light and a shiva like figure, who seemed to encourage me "cleansing my body" And it felt like my body was turning inside out puking out tar and shit.
After that process witch seemed to last maybe 5 min the light just filled my entire body and i feelt and amazing energy coming on!
Felt totally clear and in tune with everything, bursting with energy almost expecting to shoot lighting out my fingertips.
Now i got around to spin some tunes, and a old goa album instantly filled the room with a glowing positive energy followed by mindreading type communication and rolling on the floor laughing.
After a while decided that it was now safe to go back out on the balcony and light a j lol
It tasted fantastic beyond belief, and all the smoke formed to fan leaves when exhaling:)
We had long and deep conversations about life and the universe and it slowly fades away leaving u comfortably tired.
The energy and positive experience a trip can give follows u for months!!

Ps: start out with a mild type like p.cubensis but take a proper dose, a weak trip is no fun..

I was specifically talking about Bulk technique. Having a 10x10 room is orders of magnitude more difficult. Environment, mold issues, shit man It even took me three grows to learn to water the casing layer properly.
Have you ever starting a compost pile for mushies? It's crazy hard right?
Having some success with a little hobby technique doesn't mean mushroom growing is easy. I would like for you to try bulk tech. and see if you still find it easy.

I love this video it shows the step by step process of how to grow mushies commercially:

Why would I need to grow bulk? I just tried it out ONE time and one time only. If I remember correctly, Using rye for a substrate made it easier to transfer to my bulk container filled with a sterile straw log....I did one medium-large sized straw log like I said before and pounded out enough mushies light up 10+ parties....

This is about as perfect as a response gets my friend. The depth of entheogen use goes way way back, and I'm so glad that you are approaching the experience from this angle. I feel that these organic substances have definitely connected me with our ancestors and their timeless spirit. It does sound like drivel to most as I'm aware from discussing this with people, but I understand your angle completely and you are not alone.

Grow on my friend, the eschaton awaits you. :ying:
