Cool .. As opposed to using a stable male ? Like Bog Sour Bub? What's the benefit to open pollination ?
Grow them and if you can take one clone from each plant before you flip them on 12/12 to make the F2's.
Once they start flowering, you'll know which one you like best and will be happy to have a clone of it.
Then you can grow some F2 seeds and backcross the best one of those to your elite clone.

Preservation, as stated in the title, is a particular objective. And generally uses a larger population, of interrelated plants. That would mean an open pollination of all the acceptable males to all the acceptable females..
Your individual take on "acceptable" will outline the degree of preservation you actually practice... Including all 20 plants, or as many as make it to maturity, is 'complete' preservation...
Using an unrelated male, is no longer a preservation breeding.. It's an outcrossing, creating a 'new' F1 hybrid..

Won't all the recessive traits come out ? What's the best approach after the f2 offspring are conceived ? Was wondering how that works since I don't have access to the either of the original parents ?

Most of the recessive traits will have an opportunity to express themselves, yes.
There are several approaches you can take..
One is to segregate the phenotypical expressions into separate 'families', grouping the females by expression, pollinating them with the group of best males (equal or greater # males to # females) and using those males for each of the different sets/families of females (hence why more males than females)... You could then IBL those different families separately, and recombine them later when you wanted to reinvigorate the strain overall.
Another approach is to do 1:1 breedings between your favorite females and the best males. This makes smaller 'families' but you have the chance to evaluate offspring indiviually on a female:male basis, to determine the best males that passed on the desirable traits you're looking for within each 'family' and allow you to toss out the progeny of any bunk males. You can still recombine these several generations after IBLing the families individually, but because the breedings happened 1:1 and you discarded some of the results, you're essentially creating a small bottleneck. It's beneficial and/or detrimental, depending on your end-goal.
A third option is to continue to open pollinate all the females with the best males (keeping as close to equal #'s as possible, female:male) and keep all the seed in one large batch.. This is the closest to genuine preservation efforts, as it's the closest model to how nature actually works..

Got nuthin to add... Make f2s ur gonna get a mix of all phenols clonem select accordingly for what ya want.... F2s r great to find what ya want may have to sort through some shit but if u open pollinate u preserver everything.... U can always go backwards and reselect .... Stock up on f2s n u can make it happen .... Everything will be in there.... The good great bad ugly fools gold etc....for perseveration u have to f2 to save everything then sort threw the shit n lock genes down.... Just make sure u keep a bunch of the f2 I case ur f3 don't work out....
well you can take out cuts and phenos from all the 12 bstches so you can experiment with know it mayb stre the "nextcut" of a strsin like an infamous strain grown in the oceancross them with serous seeds selection
