GH FloraNova Bloom and Grow Feeding Question!

Hi guys,

Ok so I got me some clones and they are on day 6 of veg. I have the GH Floranova Grow and Bloom nutrients and I looked at their website to check the feeding schedule and proportion mixture. It says "For the vegetative stage of growth- use 3 tsp. FloraGro to 2 tsp. FloraMicro to 1 tsp. FloraBloom to 1 gallon water." So I'm going to use 3 tsp of the grow nutes and 1 gallon of water, but then for feeding them do I just pour the mixture until it is damp like a normal watering? I am a n00b, on my first grow so I dont know much. I have seen a lot of posts about burning the plants so I just want to hear some advice from EXPERTS :). Any help is really appreciated. I got PURPLE PAIN and BB going.. cant wait.

Another MISC question - On the first day I didn't have it ventilated well enough and some of the clones took a dive for the worst. All but 2 of the wilted plants (about half of them were fine with no wilting) basically looked dead but the 2 that showed some life had new leaves at the bottom of the plant. I removed the dead leaves on top and now there is a tiny bit of new growth at the bottom. Is there any way I could turn these into healthy plants again?

Thanks for all the help :).

Hey 420

I use FloraNova too and jsut started so maybe someone else has better info for ya than me but...

I jsut make sure to watch and monitor the concentrations and pH of my nute mix. FloraNova is super potent so be careful, I do not use anywhere near what GH reccomends becuase it bumps the pH down to like 3-4.0 range and the ppms go throught he roof at over 2000ppm ! So, I don't measure the GROW out before adding it to water but addit and stir until I get the desired ppms and pH - then i let it sit for 24 hours with an airstone in it to aerate it and fully dissolve allthe nutes. I have had good luck with that so far.

Oh, and as far as your clones - if they are growing new leaves I would say you are in good shape. Are they in soil as well?

Also, when you water make sure you have some excess water drain out the bottom of your containers to ensure a proper moisture level is reached in the whole pot. Let it dry out completely before watering again, in fact wait a couple days after it is dry because during that time the roots grow even more since they are searching for moisture. Your plants will grow much faster and remain healthy if you do this - trust me, it took me a long time to figure this out. It's hard to break the habit of watering every other say or so since you think your plants need a feeding schedule, but in fact they don't since they are growing and expanding their root system. You must adapt your feeding and watering to the plants needs, not a bogus schedule!

Hope that helps.

Here's a link to the floranova feeding instructions.....
Always start off about 1/2 strength and work up....
I usually use the ppm levels on the chart as a guide, but mix at about 3/4 strength the whole way through... Depending on what week i'm in...
Sounds to me like you were looking at the gh micro, grow, bloom, ratios....
I cut and pasted the chart to an image for ya so no need to dl the huge pdf file...

hey guys,

just in case that you're mixing something up:
FloraNova and Flora are not the same!
FloraNova is a 1 part nute, one bottle for veg, on bottle for flowering
Flora is the 3 part nute (Grow bottle, Micro bottle and bloom bottle).

I wouldn't use more than max 10ml per US gallon (3.785 Liter)of FloraNovaBloom in flower, that an EC of 2.0mS/cm.

Really.... Holy crap....
I don't spose you've worked out the general ppm and dosage have you??
I mean if 10ml/g is 2 ec, how many ml's would it be for ec 1, 1.5?
Just curious cause if it's really that high i may have to add some water to my mix b4 i feed...

With the floranova grow I get 850 ppm from 5ml per gallon using .7 conversion wich is 1.2 ec. I would check it yourself before you feed them.

good luck with the grow.

I wish i could.... I spent the cash on a ph meter, cause the display on the tds meter I was looking at was fuct.. Was their last one too...
I'll get one soon i hope....
I mixed some up at 8mls per gallon, let it sit overnight, then i'll ph and feed....
Have had good succes so far.. No burning..
Last run i used it on a few plants to test out.. "free sample"
Works great, I flushed for 2 weeks where as, i think i should have flushed for 3, seems they stayed dark green and tasted a little off....
Not horrible though.... Could just be the change in ferts too, produced a slightly different taste....
We'll see in another 60 days or so... :D

That's cool... If you're getting along with out it and they look good that's what counts. The ppm numbers on the bottle's label are very low I think. They must be using a .5 coversion and they are still a lil low looks like.

If they are still dark green that late I'd give em a bit less. I like my plants to lighted up towards the end and flush less.

peace

thats correct, for some reason GH uses a .5 conversion on the label, problem is, they are recommending 1400 on the FNB, thats an EC of 2.8mS/cm... way too high imo.

i have used the flora nova series for over a year now and it is great stuff. I go about 1/2 of what the bottle says. I grow in hydro so it is a bit different with soil but just watch your plants. if they look like they need some food dose them up. My sour bubble can take above a 2.0EC if i maxed them out. I run in full flower around 1.8-2.0.
and please remember what mase said "FloraNova and Flora are not the same!
FloraNova is a 1 part nute, one bottle for veg, on bottle for flowering
Flora is the 3 part nute (Grow bottle, Micro bottle and bloom bottle)."

I for the most part use 1/2-2/3 the bottle dose.

Hope that helps
