getting too old to smoke beta caryophyllene strains

last summer i was smoking a fugu kush harvest which had a lot of eugenol. people like the taste and it can add an interesting note to the hit but it burns hot and i have this idea that eugenol is not the best thing for anyones lungs. from eg. the reputation for dying that clove smokers had when i was a kid.

ran out of fugu and got a deal from a desert rat to fill out the rest of 2020, nepali x brick allegedly, "real incensey and peppery, refined" my ass harsher than shit. eugenol + beya caryophyllene city, hot and nasty. choked my way through it until my lungs were raw. that bag fucked up my capacity to smoke.

the combo of the two imprinted a recognition that this was really bad weed, characteristic terpenoids i wouldn't be surprised to find in abundance in all the bad weed i ever smoked, but never really thought about what was going on. maybe it taste teh spicy. it like teh napalm for your inside.

guess i'm getting older as i have to clean my weed meticulously with magnification to remove all stem, or it kills me too much to smoke, i'm not gonna live long feeling.

since then my microharvests have been real hit or miss, several individual plants from strains i've grown for years just being super unlucky and burgeoning with beta caryophyllene, i have to pace out my better buds and consign the harsh ones for work. poor me eh.

always had sensitive lungs, but never seen much talk on how shit beta caryophyllene is to smoke, heads up for anyone getting older.

world try growing some menthol strains if you want the "lung stimulating" effect. that's real good for your lungs. beta caryophyllene is bloody murder when you are no longer so indestructible.

dreaming of that satori pheno that was smoooooth, mellow and tobaccoey without the garlic.

I would direct you towards a nice sativa like Malawi. Also I have recently got my hands on a Vivant Vleaf vaporizer which has five settings from just terpenes (taste) to blowing clouds. Cheap too!

Tried washing your green? It's been a while, but iirc I soaked some dry heads overnight, then let them dry. As they dried they lost their colour. Going beige like something you kept for 15 years. Not peppery though, like old gear. It just tasted.. well beige. Very soft from every angle. I'm unsure where I dried it after the soak. It wasn't green anymore though, and I won't of taken weeks over it.

I used to always have a good cough. More than anyone else I have met. Until during covid... When I could get a good lung full for the first time ever. Since covid, I want to cough but can usually hold it. I liked the beige weed as it was outstanding in it's softness, but nobody else wanted to smoke something that just tasted beige.

The softest thing around me lately, has been critical mass. It's that big-bud like flavour.

I don't know anything about the chemical names and their tastes tbh. I keep the crit for it's softness though, and do it's crosses to draw in other flavours, without becoming too much.

I'm going back 25 years here. It seemed as strong. Back then I would smoke a different spliff every half hour. The subtleties would be lost.

Comfortably numb!
Ummm... you had high tolerance issues back then or what, a spliff every 1/2hr. That being said, if I read between the lines here, on a beautiful mellow ACDC buzz, no lost of potency or the entourage effects provided by the strain's terpene profile! Is that the msg you are trying to convey here/ :)

The effect must of been different. It tasted different. The two can't be separated. It's not how our memories work. Different tastes take you to different places. There is no getting around it. Resin isn't water soluble though, so the bulk of it remains.

30-40mins was a typical interval between a spliff and coffee for many years. It's little over a Q a day.

I know we used to get through some. Barnies Bar stayed open while two of us sat in the window demolishing spliffs faster than we could roll them one night. We were scoring them on a strain hunting mission. The manager and bar staff were slipping in and out of English. He wanted to come over to see who we were, smoking everything they had got like it was nothing. By which he meant everything the city had got, as we had quite a lot to sift through. We kept getting drinks, and they kept watching us. More interested in how much we could smoke, than closing for the night.

Only one thing has ever stopped me from rolling another. One particular crop of jack the ripper was so strong, peoples cars were rolling to a stop on major roads. You could barely work your phone. I know it was straight up honest green, as I grew it myself. I have had nothing like it before or since. Not even close. Though I did that pheno for years.
