Getting started

So the process has officially begun in finalizing the research aspect of growing and putting action into the setup and beginning stages. What my goal is, is to have 5 plants in 7 gal organic soil containers in one 5x5x6.5 area under one 600w MH for veg and one 600W HPS for flower. I originally wanted to go with a 4x4x6.5 area but feel that there won't be enough room with 5 plants. Let me know your thoughts on this as I'm unsure of what exactly I can and cannot do concerning space. I will veg these plants for a month and am looking for strains that won't take longer than 10-11max weeks to flower. I have been considering the following:

GHS kalashikinova-8
GHS white rhino-9
GHS aj strawberry haze-10
GHS el nino-8
GHS jack herer-8
GHS k train-9
g13 purp haze-unsure
g13 pineapple express-unsure
dutch passion skywalker-unsure

I wanted to have one of my strains to be a very strong resin producing, hash plant almost but have not come across anything. Suggestions??? I am not limited to the above listed either, they're just to give a perspective on the system.

I will be using the super soil recipe most likely. Under these circumstances what do you think an average yield would be. I know it would be hard to say not knowing the specific strains but a ballpark weight would be appreciated.

I will be running 2 fans as well; 1 400CFM inline, and 1 exhaust along with a carbon filter.

I am open to any and all commentary, questions, and suggestions.

PS-I decided on checking up on the infamous Bodhi's seeds halfway through this post and was not disappointed to say the least. I think I found my hash plant (elphantizer) but for that I will wait a few cycles.

I would skip greenhouse seed company. Plenty of other better genetics available for the money.

I would recommend checking some more grow logs on this site and make a better decision based on people's grow reports. Tons of great information to be had and you will feel more confident in your purchase.

Yes I have read a lot about em and people are very back and forth with them thats my concern. What I do like is being able to find the flowering range for most fo their strains. Any recommendations on strains running in the 8-11 week flower period? I'm currently in the middle of checking out some grow reports now.

I'd recommend checking out cannacopia. I believe most of their strains are in the 8-11 week range, very good prices for the quality that you get, and the deep chunk dad they used turned everything into a hash plant which you said you are looking for.
Check their section in the seed vendor sub forum for some good grow logs.

is this your first time growing ??.. if so pick a hardy strain
i remember my first grow over fed didn't have the best air circulation and yet still pulled out some awesome bud ... Sensi seeds Northern lights.. a bit on the couch side for my liking now but was awesome strain for first grow

I saw cannocopia and was definitely impressed with the c99 bx1.

The northern lights was another one I checked out and I'm pretty positive I will be collecting this for one of my strains to grow.

Some others I looked at were: DPF power plant, DPF sky walker, and DPF passion 1. PSF belladona was another that caught my eye.

I'm hoping to have a pretty good circulation setup don't want a smell. How did ur grow with NL go, nice yield?

The tga Chernobyl looks bomb as well as the deep purple.
Theres no rush on the seeds so keep em coming.

INteresting when do those get released, I have a few months to wait to buy seeds thats why I saved the seed research for last. When would the best time to buy seeds be? with new ones being released and such. i am very interested in all of the bodhi strains

I'm not sure, as for in a few months I would doubt it. He just started the prodject recently as far as I know. You will find Northern Lights to be a very forgiving and east to grow plant if you go that route. It is a great beginers plant. I just personally wait for #5 to pop back up. It was wonderfull.

If I were you I would try Outlaw from DP, crossbreed is Super Haze x Amnesia, it flowers for 9-12 weeks and it has a very very good yield.

id recomend any bog strain, they make growing shockingly easy... and every grower should experience the level of ease, quality, flowering time and yield... why not have it be your first...?

Barneys is mostly junk. They just don't make as good of quality of seeds imo. TGA, BOG, Gage Green Genetics, Rare Dankness, CannaVenture. I'd try any of those compaines before dealing with GreenHouse, Nirvana, or Barneys. Again just my opionion.

Brother congrats on your first grow. I think you are on the right track ordering some bodhi gear. If you can get it I would do so. BOG gear is good and has some real short flowering times. If you want C99 go with mosca. I'd suggest also a nice chemdog hybrid cause the potency yield and flower time will be there and it's always nice to have some chem flav in the lineup.

Every body has there ops.. lost my virginity to Mandala and Nirvana. So glad I did... no need to go expensive when starting out and most of mandalas strains are very forgiving.. Will buy an occasional project ( high end pack) to play with but cut your teeth on something cheap and easy.....Peace!!
