Getting Started With an NGB Cab

Anyone

I've been reading these forums for the past year or so, and I finally got around to making an account/starting to grow some weed.

Anyway, I felt inspired after reading Yukon's thread and decided to shamelessly copy his design essentially to the tee.

Here's the basic layout, 3'x2'x3'

I plan on using two 150w lights in the flowering chamber, and a htgsupply 10k lumen compact t5 in the veg chamber. Here's one finished hps cooltube and the t5 fixture:
(that "ruler" is 15" fyi)

The plan is to use a 4" 172CFM Vortex to cool the whole cab.
For stealth reasons, I want to keep the carbon filter inside the cab, how realistic is this? Is it okay to pull through the filter through the light and then out?

Any suggestions or anything would be great, as I'm not good at this type of stuff. Thanks!

It is possible that you need 2 or more post I believe. You should try it again. Not being able to see your setup, i'm gonna make some guesses. With such a Small space (3x2)x3=18cu.ft. right? That 4" Vortex should keep things wayyy cool with just having 150's. With looking at some of the other peoples NGB setups, It doesn't look like you'd have too much of a problem getting a filter in there. You wouldn't need a huge filter, there is a thread somewhere on icmag that has the calculation for figuring out the size of the filter based on your ducting size and size of fan. You'd probably be in the 10in or less filter size. Anywho try to get some pics up if ya can. Love to see some DIY. Goodluck! Oh yeah, the setup Filter->Light->Fan->Out sounds great, most people suggest sucking through rather than pushing through filters. Anywho, hope this all makes sense :)

Thanks for the tips and support, pics are up now. I'll be updating this as progress is made, the wood for the cab is getting cut tomorrow so we'll see how that goes.

If you want stealth, avoid inline fans at all costs. Triple silenced by speed control, muffler and fan isolation box, I can't let anyone in the garage anymore. The noise level REQUIRES explanation and the only explanation is, it's a huge honkin cooling system for a marijuana stealth garden.

When I first fired up the inline, I could LITERALLY hear it across the street. I checked. Triple silenced, I can now talk to neighbors in the driveway only because the fan noise competes with cars, trucks, kids, airplanes, dogs, birds. I can still hear the fan clear as a bell but, I know what to listen for. If I let them into the garage, it would be immediately obvious there's an unexplained noise that would demand explanation.

Well shit... what do I do then?

With that sized space I'd maybe suggest trying the Stanley Blower mod. I've seen it in action cooling 2 400W in air cooled hoods and it keeps them way more than cool, you can keep you hand on the glass. And they are currently stocked at walmart for about 38$ I think. and the mod is really cheap to do. And it's decently quite, not even noticeable in an adjacent room. Anywho good luck.

Great idea, this is the new plan
