Getting high while building grow rooms, Good idea?

I'll admit, I quit smoking weed for a long time because I noticed that once my tolerance was up, I generally become a mess when I get high and try to function like a normal human being. I think its time for me to stop smoking again.

Last night I smoked some weed called Sweet God, I have never heard of it, I believe its Sweet Tooth#3 x BC God Bud.

Anyways, I climb up my ten foot step ladder and im great stuffing cracks at the top of the wall, I finish up and mindlessly start flying down the ladder and hit what I thought was the ground so I turned my body around to walk and realize im not on the ground, Im on a 5 gallon bucket, Smack! The top of my body was about 8 feet in the air when I fell directly onto bare concrete, I landed sideways on my elbow and hip.

My lower right back was healing from a previous injury, When I hit the ground it rocked every bone in my body and BLEW my back out. I slowly groaned and picked myself up and stumbled into a chair while my partner stood there watching me go into shock hahaha.

Me: Im gunna pass out dude, I dont hurt anymore and my hearing went out.

Partner: (Holding phone) Oh shit dude what the fuck do I do!?

Me: Let me pass out, I'll be right back.

I wake up with him in my face,Tut tut do you want me to call 911?

Me: No. I was just in the most amazing place! Shit! (I was in the desert with some hot chick)

After coming out of the spin, I picked my battered ass up and drove home, Where I ate and promptly went to bed.

Im hurting today, Bad! I feel like such a dumbass. I just want to finish this build and 2 days into it I rock myself and blow my back out. Funny but it sucks.

I have experienced trauma before, Its nothing new to me. I tell ya what though out of everything I have been through back pain is new to me, and its a real bitch. I just slept 4 hours and im back up. Its right up there with broken bones.

I would say my brain and body have a good agreement when it comes to going into shock, It doesnt scare me anymore cause my brain knows exactly whats happening, If I was to die right then, I would die extremely peaceful.

These incidents had nothing to do with weed, I was sober, and this is every time I have went into shock. When I say severe concussion, I mean like, In the hospital being monitored.

1986 Severe concussion: Rope swing on a hill

1988 Severe concussion: Jumping my bike

1990 Ran over by a car: My fault, Being an idiot

1993 Severe concussion: Car battery fell on my head

1997 Broken left clavical snow boarding

1998 Broken left clavical playing hockey

2000 Broken left clavical skate boarding

Here's where I chilled, It felt great knowing I wasent going to hurt myself anymore. I stopped doing what I loved to do and pursued my ultimate passion which is music.

2011 Ladder fall.

Im not new to building grow rooms, and I realize the physical dangers associated with it. We all know there is A LOT that can go wrong. I have always been very aware of the dangers and acted accordingly. This was just one of those freak accidents.

I don't smoke when i build for this very reason. My rule of thumb is if I am going to be "high" up on a ladder (6' or higher), or if I am using any form of power saw (I like having all of my fingers) I don't smoke. Anything else, and it is smokey time.

I really think its a wise move Ozark, Im going to start using the weed as a reward system for my hard work at the end of the day :)

Hahaha! I hear ya! I tried it, it doesn't work for me! I dont know how many times I left the RO tanks filling and went home only to come back to a flood.

You stay safe to bro, Those broken clavs are no joke, and there's nothing anyone can do about it except put you in that stupid brace and write a script. That is easily the most painful injury I have ever experienced, hands down!

Partner?

That's trauma waiting to happen
Not always, We have been at this for 8 years and experienced the failures and rewards together. It's all in how its setup. Besides, We have been partners before we ever even knew we were. That fall hurt, but if it was extremely serious, He would have been there and saved my life. The risk of having someone around that I know as well as myself and I KNOW is like minded and plays by the rules is TOTALLY worth it. I dont ever want to do this alone, I hear the horror story's but im not afraid to admit, I need him.

All those concussions ain't good for a person. Good thing you didn't bounce your noggin on the concrete. Stepping on that bucket was a freak thing, but the pot did make it easier for your mind to be somewhere else at the moment. No judgement, wake early and bake early here. You just taught me to keep buckets away from my ladder even though it's a hassle.

Back pain will introduce you to a whole new reality.

Great post, Yea I finally realized if I didn't chill out I wasn't going to last long. Im SO glad I didn't hit my head in this freak accident, But I feel like if I wasn't so stoned I would have moved slower and looked down, It was just wreckless to come down it without looking. I zone out when im high and become mind locked on one thing forgetting about everything else.

Yea limegreen, I had my wild streak, Those were just the shock injury's, I was always banged up when I was younger. I forgot about the motorcycle accident too, I believe that was in 1999. A car pulled out in front of me thinking he had time but I Tboned him doing 35 mph and flew over the car onto the concrete. I messed my knee up pretty good with that one.

The characteristics of the high, when you've built up tolerance, and when you have little tolerance, are very different. With a tolerance one has to smoke more, and I think more of the negative effects then become apparent.

i use to be BLAZED before i would do any kind of work, now a days, i prefer to smoke after the work is done.... much more efficient that way for me :)

but thats not to say i might not take a hit or 2 if im working real hard! i just wont blaze a joint or blunt before work anymore, not for me :)

ran outta love

It's important to smoke before you get to work so you don't have a fit when something goes wrong.

Just don't smoke too much.

I've had many concussions as well. At least 6, two of them ended up with me in shock, strapped to a board. Gotta love contact sports.

I have no problems running power tools while high, I've been doing it regularly for years. HOWEVER, the other day, I got real baked before replacing the siding on a 3 story house. Forty feet up, on a plank 16 inches wide. I can usually contain my vertigo, but I had to get down. I was tooooooo high.

Damn man, That's exactly what happens to me! I took a 5 year stint from smoking and when I fired back up it was like my first time again, I love that feeling! But now its been almost 2 years and im getting the same feeling as I did the last time I quit.

See that's another thing, I may have just smoked to much.

This post is also fitting to the above quote, Smoke to much, Turn into a mess and bad things happen. I agree that smoking does take the edge off the day and allows you to remain calm with no worries.

Hahaha, bunkerman. I saw your name and I was like oh shit, I know hes got some stories. I think it boils down to knowing your limits for any given circumstance. We know we can get stoned out of our minds and hang around the house at night chatting on forums, playing games ,etc...

But when it comes to being 40ft up, or paying attention to the small details that could wreck you if you dont....(5 gal bucket under my ladder) I know that I dont know how many hits its safe to take before doing any said task. It lets me know that im a little wreckless in general when it comes to smoking weed and thats a problem.
