good news OvergrowOG. glad you are making some good moves in your life. seems like you reached that I'm ready point. the best way to deal with the cigs is to step up like you have done with the others. Don't let those bastards control and run your life. Its your life you own it man. take it back .....don't let nothing control you. When I gave up I went an got a bike...scrounged it up from someone who wasn't using it.... was an indoor one to begin with... to embarassed to lug my fat ass around in public.. 15 - 20 minutes per day. something to do when I was thinking about smoking. rowing machine would be a good alternative. build up your arms and shoulders while your kicking it

good luck .. keep it up.

TheGroBro... outstanding! you feeling good now man?

cheers

Get a bite stick, and go cold turkey.Nothing else worked for me.I only succeeded when the only thing I had to blame for my failure, was myself. It's rough man, sweats, junkie shakes, general hate for all around you. After 3 days it gets better. After 7 you'll wonder why you didn't quit sooner.

Good luck man.I smoked for 15 years, then quit.

Yes you stopped using so now the mental difficulty begins, you dont want to compound the problem by suffering physical withdrawls on top of it.I'm in the same boat right now and have been more than once.I'd like to give up cigarettes too.I'd also like to gain weight among a slew of other things but right now I have my hands full staying clean.Feel good about what you've accomplished so far,not bad about what you wish to accomplish in the future.Unfortunately we are treading thin water just broaching the subject but I do hope you listen to my advice because this thread might take a long vacation shortly

I forget where I read it..but...if you smoke a pack of newports everyday for fourty some years, you'll have enough fiberglass go through your system to build the frame of a corvette.

did you read it in the funny papers? lol

thats pretty far out sounding, im sure if that were true then i think most people who smoke newports would die within 4-8 months...

i'm completey over everything else and i have been for a while but i just kind of had a "flashback" and remembered how fun it was haha but anyway im good now but i need to quit cigs now and stop putting it off the good thing is im down to a half pack a day so ill let you guys know how it turns out in a month or so i guess

i've never smoked cigs, so i'm not aware of how serious they are addicting. but maybe when you have the urge to smoke, you could exercise?
maybe run or lift weights or something?

I recently quit drinking, and cigarettes are the only thing really keeping me sane. Well, that and smoking a little herb. :) Anyways, whenever I used to try quitting smoking, I'd chew up a piece of nicotine gum and then stick it between my lip and my gums, almost like a dip. It'll give you a decent little buzz, and maybe help you get through the craving. Then again, I'm still smoking, so it can't work that well. ;)

Good to hear your off all the pills and blow. Been there done that! I quit smoking cigarettes several years ago after I had been clean for a couple years, I would strongly recommend not trying to quit the cig's untill you have a good handle on all the other shit. When your doing mass quanities of blow and eating lethal doses of pills like I did, cigarettes are the least of your problems. Get and stay off all the other stuff for awhile and then worry about giving-up the Cig's!

Hang in there!

My buddy successfully quit smoking cigs cold turkey.
First of all you have to be sincere about quitting smoking, which you seem to be.
Second of all you need to put in to perspective why you smoke. You said you smoke cigs more when you are working, this gives you more breaks (thats why I smoke more at work) so you need to look at why you smoke away from work. For my friend, and for most smokers I feel, you smoke when you don't really have anything to do, such as car rides or while you are watching TV ect ect. Well my friend took realized this one day and grew the mentality that you light up that cig when there is nothing to do but where are you at after that cigarette is gone? You are at the same point you were before you even opened the pack to get one, you're still setting there with still nothing done and 1 cig less healthy. He has quit for a few months now and hasn't had any cigs. I smoke cigarettes too but I've always smoked with the mentality that I do it when I enjoy it and very rarely smoke when stressed or out of habit, unless I'm drinking, this keeps me down to a maximum of maybe 2 cigs a day but many days it is none and I've been doing this for about 6 years. I don't know if this will help but my buddy did it just by changing his mentality about the entire situation and so can you. Remember if you truly want to quit you can and you will.
