hey i did a search and couldnt find anything,

how would i go about germinating seeds with coco?
with soil i would just put the seeds in the soil and keep the soil moist, and theyd sprout in 3-5 days... what do you do in coco? will have botanicare coco, handwater, 1 gal pots

didnt u ask this n ur other thread

i soak mines in water till they show tap root then plant in pure coco
and cover the cups with plastic wrap to make a lil dome

also dont plant in the 1gal pots work ur way up to them
i'd say start in a 16oz cup then go to the 1 gal

Starting seedlings in 100% Botanicare Coco

Starting seedlings in 100% Botanicare Coco

I used a heating pad to warm up the pure Botanicare coco

Keep the coco moist....don't let it dry out....

But don't let it get too wet either....and definitely don't lt moisture wick up the stem....I'm going back to pure Botanicare coco for popping seeds.....haven't had success since.....last summer I popped my Casey Jones in pure Botanicare coco

Sorry for the old pics....was from last year...last summer :joint:

yeah your right i did ask this in my other thread, but you already knew that.
i only got 1 response on the particular question, so i wanted to hear from more than 1 person their technique

and btw soaking your seed in water can cause fungi and bacteria to develop on it

Hey. I use jiffy 7c. these are of coco.. then I add some B-52 from A.N, with a ratio of 2ml per liter.. I sprout the seeds first in a wet paper towel placed i a zip lock bag, then when the seed has sprouted completely, I put it in the jiffy, and can place it in a bigger coco pot within a week..this works great.. All they need are to keep moist but not overly wet.. a sprayer should make this easier when watering

I've never had problems burying seeds directly into some wet Canna Coco straight out of the bag. No pre-germination, no mess.

I hear with chunky coco it's a different story, though.

how long do they usually take to pop CT

Depends... but typically from 4-5, to maybe 7-10 days 'til I see heads pop up above ground, with no pre-germination or soaking methods. Just straight out of the jar in the fridge (and the baggie), into the coco medium.

Once they get to a certain size I transplant them into 4" square pots. This can, and probably should, be done much earlier but I like to keep them in the small seedling / cut insert cells as long as possible, since this allows me to cover more seedlings with less CFL bulbs.

Clowntown would that work with Botanicare's coco? I am planning on getting the 5kg bale that breaks up to 65-70 liters.

lol oh yeah, thanks bro, forgot that :)

Now i just gotta figure out these darn nutes heh

i just make a cut
dip in water then scrape one of the sides till u c the white middle
dip in cloning gel
then plant in straight coco
i put them in this lil clear semi cake holder dome that they sell @ target and walmart $5
they they get 18/6 under a 40w shoplight
i never water them just spray the dome
its easy as pie

im probably lost like 1 or 2 outta about 20 or so

awesome, so you dont even have to use those rockwool tubes?

what do you put the coco in? a cup? what size? would i be able to do this using a humidity dome?

naa man i never messed wit that stuff straight coco
they have these lil plastic bathroom cups @ walmart that i use there like 2" tall they look like these cept there white not clear
hxxp://www.nencetti.org/images/bc062904.jpg
there in the section where all the plastic cups are, there like a dollar something for 100 count
so they fit n the cake holder, yea if u already have some sort of dome go for it

Awesome, I will probably get a seedling tray and tall 7"-10" humidity dome.

I know the cups your talking about, my mom bought them for brushing my teeth when I was just a wee lad heh

I cant wait til I have some plants to try cloning, will be fun

PS: Do you put tape around those cups to block the light? I think it might be a good idea what about you? Roots hate light, right?

na i dont and they grow just fine
i think thats kinda of a myth among growers and not necessarily true
using clear things can cause algae in some instances
but the roots grow just fine, and i dont keep them in these cups longer than 2 week
