Germinating Seeds with Aloe/Issues germing seeds

Ive been having some issues with germinating some older seed stock. I decided to try squeezing some fresh aloe into some water than mixing really good before soaking my seeds in this solution for 36 hours. After the soak I plant into peat pucks. Im seeing seeds crack within 24 hours, some shoot a tap root.

Im having decent results with this method, but some are only cracking, then rot, or they get a very small root than after planting immediately roll out of the shell with small cotyledons. Im having to dig these ones up and plant closer to the surface of the medium. One seed, I dug up. It had what i initially thought was a small root, but was several small white worms protruding from it! Anyone have an idea what these could have been? This was inside a new, unused, peat puck. So I dont think they could have been root aphid larvae...Unless they were already within the seed...IF thats possible.. ??? Has anyone else used aloe to germinate seeds? What kind of results?

I think Im getting most of my issues in these small peat pucks. The larger ones are doing better, and im having even better luck in my old method of sprouting in promix in solo cups. I think the issue is theyre staying too wet, and the seeds/sprouts are rotting before reaching the surface. Some seeds opened below the peat puck, and when I dug in the leaves were opened but rotten..
