Germinating non fem seeds question

Seen another member say that he get 90%+ fems out of non fem seeds, you just got to know how to do it?

So is this true there is a method that can increase the chance of a female plant from a normal seed?

ohh theres theories dude... like whats one ive heard.. banana peels in with your beans when sprouting.. plus a few others that sound hocus pocus...

one i have heard never tried but could make sense. is get "the pill" off a female.. and crush them and mix them in water and use this water to sprout your seeds.. so you want the pill that chicks take daily not to get pregnant.. and then they have 7 in the pack that are for when the female is menstrating.. so theres 2 different types of pills in "the pill" one with estrogen and one with out... you want the one with estrogen and i think that would be the "21" out of the non menstrating ones.. i hope this made some sense... was hard to explain..

and as i say ive never tried these methods at all..

Sounds far fetched to me. People make up the dumbest shit, ill believe it when he does it with 3 packs of regs i provided or watched him buy, then germ then sex. Even then, who knows if he swaped the seeds with fems.

Made sense, but I feel like that opens you up to so much new risk just to get a few more females .

it's a load of crap I don't believe it at all. I'll believe it when I see it. It just doswent sound realistic.

Unless we are talking peyote purple, which is sold as a reg but its rare to find males in those packs. Thats a special isolated case...

Not a stupid question. When people make claims, it's only natural to ask. I think we're talking about luck, or the breeder used fem seeds cuz he was out of regs.

I've sprouted a ten pack about 10 years ago, and the 8 that germed were all males. Luck is a factor. Good luck. -granger

Dont be embarrassed buddy. You arent the one making up silly claims, its somethin you read someone say. Its fair you posted the thread trying to get to the bottom of it.

Thats what threads are for. Ask or share away amd expand everyones knowledge

cheers guys appreciate the kind words. I thought it sounded a little far fetched but I thought things like maybe temperature range, humidity and that kind of stuff may have gave you better odds of a female, im glad I did ask though

Its true. Its proven high temps can cause seeds to become male. I avoid using the heat mat in the summer time to germ seeds or place a book in between it and the tray. I find high temps cause extra males or rotting little roots and or j root...

The least stress at germination, the fewer males. Heat is a big factor as is intense light, colder temps length of daylight, not keeping medium moist, pH issues - all environmental issues that can be controlled indoors. Others mention nitrogen and potassium, but cannot vouch for that. We use a good organic (stable) soil, so no enrichment needed.

As some mentioned, luck of the draw and genetically predisposed.(??)

Funny, as a breeder, when I'm looking for great male specimens, luck would have it (not that we mind), more females emerge. I do know from experience planting outdoors- more males with less light (happens more in early spring).
