i'd definately try a few different methods if you have enough seed, find out what works best for ya then let us know...i've had old seeds crack a little and i could see the white tap wanting to come out but it just dried up and died like it had lack of vigor and it wasn't strong enough to finish cracking the old seed....so i took a razor and cut the seam and a few made it out......i also put a few barely under some soil and a couple made it.......yours are twice as old as the ones i did but it's worth a shot!

Hello all,

I germed 20 beans I found wrapped up in a papertowel inside a film container (metal) in the bottom of a box on the floor in a closet

These beans were from circa 1982-83. One popped and grew and was male.

Thats that.

Good luck.

i had enough problems trying to sprout a 3 year old seed, i only got one two out of 40 and one of those never got past the cotyledon leaf stage.. the other only had one serated leaf but i let it go and it actually looks good now.

I have a TON of seeds including aeric 77, stl creeper, blue goo, a bunch of g13 crosses, some matanuska tundra, original c99, AND MORE, that a friend who used to grow back in the 90's gave me. I've had about 5% germ rate and the ones who have made it have died off very early in life. Luckily there is about 100 more to give a shot at.

Moose you'll greatly increase your odds if you refigerate them for a week or so before trying to germinate them.

i think you may be on to something... normally my new seeds sprout within 1-2 days... the old ones took over a week.. after that it took 10 days to pop the soil as oposed to 2 days with new seeds.. i had almost given up. Another thing i considered was the soil.. with my northern lights.. they handled the rich organic soil well.. with the old seeds i used a very light neutral medium.

These were like, a year old nirvana genetics, nothing like 30 years, but it was basically my first time germing seeds.. i've messed around before but i was working with 15 seeds. put them in little cups with 3/4 FFOF and 1/4 FFLW. bout 1/2" from top. and watered with 1tsp liquid karma/1gal, 3ml botanica SWEET/gal, 1ml superthrive, and 1ml of bonoro root stimulator. i had 100% of the seeds above ground reaching for the lights within 50 hours. no burning or yellowing. (misty, big bud, northern lights)
