the only problem with starting seedlings in large pots is that (X#) large pots don't fit under a light like (X#) beer cups.

the big pots won't hurt the plant at all

I read somewhere that seedlings do better in small cups because it takes longer to form root balls in a bigger pot. Is this true?

i start everything in beer cups, move to one gallon geopots > veg > move to 10 gallon pots > veg some more > flower

i'm not looking to form root balls i'm trying to give the plants all they need for the size that they are and be able to get them under as few watts as possible indoors

I like to start seeds in the inch round pot. Or I have seen using a clear cup inside a red/dark cup so one can see the root growth. Light damages roots that's why cup inside cup

Back to it. Fill two three inches with moist soil, insert seed quarter-inch down. When seedling stretches fill cup up more. Cover cup with plastic wrap and rubber band or fill tray with humidity dome. Mist daily with dechlorinated water.
