Germinate Autoflower

Hey! I have been reading that autoflower should not be transplanted more then one time. Because AF have very short veg time and any kind of stress in can harm it.

What is the best way to germinate it? My plan was to put the seed in rapid rooters and let it be there for 1 week under lamp and then 5-7h/day in the shade on the balcony and then put it back under light for 10h/day for about 1 week and then take them out and plant them in their 2.5gallon hole in the wild. Will it be good? Or will the first 2 weeks in the rapid rooters be bad for them, I was thinking there cant be much nutriens in the rapid rooters to feed them for 2 weeks.

Is it smarter to put the rapid rooter in a a party cup surronded by soil? And then after 2 weeks transplant it to the hole?

Thank you,

Sounds like a plan.

We use the same container the one it will finish, thereby no hassle transplanting.

How you mean you use the same container? You germinate it in the finishing container?

Yes....11 liter or 3-5 gallon container...start to finish. 2.5 gallon contain will work as well.

Sure you can do the damp paper towel method, other ways.....party cup w/ holes in it, then transplant.

Just compare the root mass of an auto to that of a photo, truly the auto is a very different plant, in many instances the auto is but 1/3rd the size of the photo, but that also depends on many other things to like grower, strain, yield etc etc, rapid rooters or jiffy pucks are fine for 2-3 weeks at best, then straight to the main pot 2-3 gallon or 1 gallon per month of soil the plant is with you ..^^^ or 11-12 liters

Never had a problem potting up or planting out Auto's, i try get em in final pots or planted out 2nd-3rd week, just before flower.
If you have decent compost and you pot up correctly the plant shouldn't suffer any stress.

Correct. vostock summed it up nicely. When transplanting you can bruise stem/root system.....that's why starting/finishing in same container works.

Numerous grow methods for autos....just pick what works for you and go with it.
