Germ Guardian UV-C Room Air Sanitizer

Hey all you fellow growers of fine dank.
I searched and found nothing here about this device so here we go.
(I hope this is not old news)

Bumping around Lowes the other day and found This Germ Guardian UV-C Room Air Sanitizer.

Now I run carbon filters recuirc in my flower room and lately I have noticed some faint odor near the front door, (thats a real bad place for "odors" to linger) I also have a middleage female dog that just up and pees on the carpet every once and a while. I have a hoover "Carpet Zamboni" (carpet shampooer) and use the hell out of it, but the pee still lingers.

So minding my own buisness shopping for (some) non grow items at Lowes, and stumble on this beautiful device:

Just in time for the opening of The Day The Earth Stood Still

It's the bomb, stainless steel, adjustable fan speed, replaceable filter and UV-C lamp assy. It's about 1 cubit tall.
And it does work! The smells are gone. $129 is not chump change to me but you can bet I am in a HOARDING frenzy over this thing. Gonna buy more, maybe even keep 1 or 2 unopened for posterity. (I exagerate abit)

BTW, I know it is sold for Germ killing but it "destroys organic compounds at the molecular level".

My tests have convinced me, don't smoke a joint or bowl without something to kill the smell. (learned that the hard way when some friends got busted )

good find, rasputen. I have carbon filters in my sealed room and an ozone gen on the air-cooled hoods, and i am always wishing i could replace the carbon with something that uses electricity to kill smell instead of 200 lbs of rocks. I guess i have steered clear so far because of the fear that units like this will release either ozone or hydroxyl radicals that will then enter the air in the room and start to neutralize the smell directly on the buds themselves that i work so hard to bring about! So please let us know how that works out with the smell on the buds.

The web site claims NO OZONE. Not plannin to put it in the flower room, just near the front door and maybe one in my bedroom where I try to keep all my smoking activities.

I think I would like to get a bunch of these UV-C bulbs and install them in the air return that oes from the first floor to the second floor. All my return air goes thru there and it might kill a lot of funky stuff. I have dogs so dust mites are a concern of mine....along with smells.

Yeah, carbon filters rock, I actually get the activated charcoal free so I should just build some more.

You don't have to worry about ozone killing bud aroma. I ran an ozone gen inside the flower room before and once the buds are removed from the room they are same as always.

Personally, I think ozone has gotten a bad rap over the years, mostly by people who do not use it properly.

awesome product. I might have to buy one for in my flower room (a darkroom) and one for outside. That should work pretty good combined with my carbon scrubber.

good to know, BlindDate. why don't you use it any more?

I used it when I was running a sealed room with CO2. Trying to reduce the oder of any escaping air.

I no longer run CO2, so now I can vent through a carbon filter. The negative room pressure precludes escaping oder.

Hey Rasputen, this is designed to go into your return air and will treat the air in your entire house, providing your blower is on.

Thanks smokerman....looks like a nice weekend project......maybe a bit after Christmas. Bought my baby a diamond O so I will have to allocate sum funds.

Great find and it looks like it would do the whole house (1800sq ft).
Thanks

PS: I went and got 1 more GG at Lowes today. :joint:

Just a note:

The first unit I bought started flickering. I called the 800 # and without any hassle at all they are shipping me a replacement bulb. Pretty impressive these days!
