Geranium aftertaste?

AgentPothead

Just this guy, ya know?
I am not a flower guy, but geraniums have a very distinct smell to me and sometimes I get weed that has an aftertaste that I can only describe as geranium. Anybody experienced this or know what is causing it? I know outdoor bud grown near pine trees can actually acquire the piney taste from the terpenes from the tree, is it possibly something like that? I wasn't sure what forum to put this in either, seemed like this was the one for general whateverness.

Sorry i don't bring any science. Friend of mine grew some lowryder X's years ago against everyone advice, with expected very poor results. They had an unpleasing aftertaste. They reminded me the bitter scent when you break a geranium branch, very distinctive, and i nicknamed them geranium just to annoy him.
Perhaps it's got something to do with ruderalis? The geraniol is not this terpen, because geraniol you can find in other plants and they doesn't smell like that, roses for example, break a branch and smells nothing special other than broken rose branch. Geraniums add something extra.
Then there's the boiled liver of some old dutch strains, i hated it too, but the taste was different than the smell. Geranium autos smelled and tasted just bad. Didn't get you high, either. Teetotals favourite, luckily extinct today.

I grew in a pine Forest and not one plant was piney..yeehaw
Wow that's pretty incredible to me, were those plants in pots or did they share the soil with the pine trees?

That is possible on the autos I guess, I hope not since 4 of the 5 seeds I popped were all supposed to be auto. If they taste like geraniums I will definitely let you guys know.

The Terpene That Kills Bacteria and Smells Like Geranium
Strains With Geraniol:

Amnesia Haze marijuana strain is a Sativa dominant hybrid. This herb is a winner of the 2004 Cannabis Cup Awards. Being true to her name, Amnesia Haze marijuana strain will make you forget all of your troubles by taking your mind on a ride for 2-3 hours.

White Shark cannabis strain is a balanced hybrid which doesn't get you too high. On the contrary, it will deliver relaxation and concentration. White Shark cannabis strain promotes creativity, and that is why cannabis users smoke it in the afternoon when they need some insight into a specific topic.

OG Kush cannabis strain. Is it possible to say something new about OG Kush cannabis strain? It's a world famous hybrid that will blow you mind with its 20% THC. This is a favorite among cannabis enthusiasts all over the world. Maybe it's because OG Kush cannabis strain has some Geraniol in it?

The Amnesia Haze Core cut, aka SuperSilverHaze has something to do with geranium/geraniol IMHO.

I've smoked ruderalis crosses and straight ruderalis back when they were first being marketed, around the early eighties it seems like.

Only tried it a few times because it was such a letdown. They were very healthy plants, about sixteen inches tall at most, mostly one bud. Excellent bag appeal, frost for days. The ruderalis by itself smell was very, VERY muted, a faint menthol or camphor smell that barely came through as a taste when smoked. It was like smoking air or nothing at all is how I would describe it at the time.

Might have been some CBD that I didn't realize at the time, wasn't looking for that though.

I'd almost be willing to bet you're tasting SM-90 that was used too long into bloom or sprayed on the buds to kill powdery mildew.

It looks like the main active ingredient in SM-90 is coriander, aka cilantro. I am one of the people who think cilantro has a very strong soap taste. It is possible it is the sm-90, but I don't notice a soap taste, just a taste I can only describe as geranium. I have in the past smoked "soapy" weed and that makes me wonder if that was the cause.

Haven't tasted germanium, that I'm aware of. I'm familiar with Kali Mist tasting like pyrethrins, though its a more complex flavor/aroma of flowers with chrysanthemum being most prevelant.

I personally find it disgusting, there are however a lot of folks who like it. :)

Oh that's really interesting on the pyrethrins, I know they are derived from chrysanthemums and are used in multiple products for mildew/insect control. I wonder if that is inherent to the strain itself, or some control product they are using?
