nope there not clones from seed and i waterd with plan water yesterday and already seems like then need more but dont want to over water them. i just got them to start really growing again and dont want to kill them. so what would be my best bet. i can poke the soil at least a 1/4" or more of dry soil on all the plants and like i said i watered yesterday.. temps havent been to outragus mid 80's but enough vent to help keep the plants lvl about 78. any other advice would be helpful.
you're worried about the top 1/4" being dry ?
I think you may be worrying wayyy too much about watering.
Believe it or not, plants like a little time between soakings.
Please don't stick your fingers into the soil.
Please click my "lift the pots" link.

ps...looking at the pictures from yesterday, I see what looks like you're watering only slightly instead of giving them a good thorough drink.
IE: a wet portion in the middle of dry soil.
That is worrysome...
Doing your watering that way, risks having areas in the planter with dry pockets which arent healthy for a well developed root system.
its was just a a little patch on top casue the soil seemed hard so i flufed the very top laywer os soil and that little bit floated and never fully got wet. i water till there is run off and it drains away.
i dont poke with fingers only long wooden toothpicks just to check depth of water i do lift them i am in my garden constaly. drives the women mad hehe but i try to do it by feel but sometimes its deceving.
just get some hydroton, rinse it before use, and cover your soil with a 1/2 inch of it. its supposed to help prevent mites i think (by keeping the surface dry).
what the other members are saying is mostly triu though. Its good for your soil to go through a wet dry cycle for proper root growth
