gen hydro dry nutes

Hey everyone. I have been using dry nutes through my grow by gen hydro. I started with maxi gro and maxi bloom. I am now in flower and I am using maxi bloom.

Recently I started showing a deficiency in magnesium so I purchased cal mag plus by botanicare and everything is looking good. I picked up a bag of kool bloom this weekend and I plan on using it in my next res change.

Currently my res is about 1.4 ec with only maxi bloom and cal mag with ro water. I am 13 days into flower. I am growing in a single bucket dwc in hydroton and I am growing an albino rhino x big bud f1. I have a 400w hps. The plant is looking great but clearly has a few weeks of flowering to go.

So...my question is what ratio would you use the kool bloom with the maxi bloom? Or would you avoid it? Have any of you ever used kool bloom?

The other question I have is what type of water should I use to spray the leaves/foilar feed? Just tap water? different nute levels at different stages? do the leaves actually consume the nutrients sprayed on the leaves or do they only absorb water?

Thanks for the help!

Good info here. Thanks Krazyie. :D

The main reason you're having deficiencies is most likely your pH being out of whack. Trust me... there's PLENTY of everything in Maxibloom... just need to unlock it properly.

You're in DWC so you'll want to set your pH at around 5.4 unless you have an auto-top off valve, then you can set it around 5.2. Letting your pH start there and swing up will give maximum absorption rates for each element as the pH goes from 5.2 to 6.0.

Once your pH reaches 6.0, check your ec and add nutes until you get close to the max ec your plants are comfortable with (takes time). If the pH is still too high, add a bit of pH down.

Lather rinse, repeat. Dump the cal/mag, you pretty much wasted cash there, it's all in the Maxibloom. Sorry.

Spray your plants down with R/O water. It's nice and clean and doesn't leave residue. :D IF your tapwater is really clean... ok, but I haven't lived in a place with good tapwater in decades.

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

edit: Oh yeah... the KoolBloom. I'd run two buckets with the same strain... one with, one without. You decide.
