I planted my geminated seed 4 days ago and it still hasn't sprouted.I've checked just below the surface and can see the seed has shedded it's shell.Should i remove some top soil to free the seed or leave it be?Thanks
How deep did you plant it? They only need to be about 1/4 inch deep or so and if planted too deep they don't have enough stored energy to push out of the soil. I'd say if you planted more than 1/2 inch deep you could very carefully remove most of the soil covering it and keep it misted until breaking the surface.
BTW, 4 days really isn't that long to wait, I've had several go 7 days.
IMO you're better off soaking the seeds in water for 24 hours then place them between moist paper towels in a ziplock bag placed in a dish set on top of some electronics like a dvr (for warmth). They should pop in a couple of days, then plant them with just a sprinkle over them, then let nature take its course.
Sorry misread your post. You said that it has shed the shell.... If you can see cotyledon leaves, then you should remove dirt between it and the air, but keep the tap in moist dirt.
