beautiful as always nspecta! they look pretty damn similar in that pic. :chin:

Very, very nice Nspecta. I see what you mean.....all very similar, at least from that vantage point. I could sneak one of these in there and lose it too imo.....

now there's a contribution if I ever saw one Nspecta! what a SOP (Sea of Purple) :yummy:

I was aware you were doing some legwork on this one, I jus didn't see enough pics like those :D and woulda liked to see some veg pics.. But that's one hell of a job with that many plantz..

From your past comments/statements on the matter I do believe some of these purples are jus the same cut with a dif name, but I'd like to find the ones that aren't the same..

Regardless, all the work puttin' together a bed like that surely pays off upon harvest :yummy: :joint:

Hey Bc...I've got a veg pic of 'em in my gallery (& below)...as fer whether they're all tha same or different...I've said it before & I'll say it again...for breeding & preservation purposes the only ONE ta keep is tha Purple Urple/Urkle...tha rest are hybrids at best, if not tha same thang.

If some of them are indeed hybrids...then it's my honest opinion that they're some crappy hybrids...<<< In reference to GrandDaddy Purple & Grape Ape...considering I've, personally, found better 'Purple' hybrids in every Urple cross I've ever made & grown out.

I'll try ta post up close ups of all tha 'different' purples from tha bed/s when I get some more time...as well as some finished nug shotz...

This 4'x4' bed...^^^...is a True side by side by side grow of...

Humboldt Purple Urple/Urkle...from Southern Humboldt circa 2001.
Ken's GrandDaddy Purple...from DragonFly circa 2004.
Mendo Lavender...from Northern Mendocino County circa 2005.
Nepalean Purple...from Southern Humboldt circa 2005.
Tuity Fruity Purple...from Northern Humboldt/Arcata circa 2004.
Pakistani Purple Kush...from Southern Humboldt circa 2003.
Grape Ape...from Central Mendocino County circa 2006.

...Quote from a post o' mine @ Breed-Bay...dating tha acquisition of tha 'different' cuts...in some cases when I originally got 'em (example...Urple/Urkle 2001)...&...in other cases when my bro's first got 'em (example...GDP 2004).

Out of all the purples mentioned in this thread I think the Swerve PurpK is the only one not related. I haven't flowered it yet, but the leaf is totally different and it's very vigorous and a little lanky in veg.

thank you sincerely NGT for hookin' it up, I must say I was hoping this thread would tease a few of those shotz outa ya :D

a picture of health bro, truly one of the healthiest beds I've seen, and stocked full of so much goody goodness..

Thanks for takin' the time as is, close ups would be nice, but don't sweat it if you can't find the time.. :joint:

As far as my comparison it's pretty basic, and small for now.. I should also note that I am completely new to any of the 'cali' purps.. being in BC I've had my fair share of purple weed (solid and/or highlighted) that was both low and high quality, some I'm sure jus as good or better, especialy the PI i used to get..

Anyways, i haven't had any samples of any of the most commonly reffered to purps..

NGT has inspired me to flower all 3 of these out in a wide 5 gal pot, kinda bed style, to help keep things as close as possible to reduce eviromental influence..

I also forgot to thank Neptune for his contributions/pics/opinion  I apreciate it bro.. I knew a few of you cannafreaks out there have done it or are doing it, and i'm glad to see some other results..

well, i'm gonna try to do weekly updates, or maybe every 2 weeks from now on..

They're at 10 days veg now.. and the GDP and Urkle are looking pretty much identical.. too close to call whether they're the same or perhaps jus slightly dif.. flowering will tell us a lil better, I'm thinking these 2 cuts are going to be identical or very, very similar..

K's PK is lookin' a bit dif, but def related.. thinner fans, kinda bushier so far.. she may jus take a lil longer to get going and may change a bit later.. IMVHO definately some direct relation to the GDP/Urkle, at least the GDP/Urkle cuts I have here.. But not the same cutz.. I can tell from rooting/cloning speed/ability alone that they are dif..

I had 1 clone of each left and they rooted in the same way as before.. the K'sPK was about 2 days slower.. Also the K'sPK (especialy with not so hot 6 days in the mail cuts) clones seemed to both suffer a lil more degradation than GDP or Urkle..

Altho I think if one used fresh clones all would be not too bad, but i'd bet K'sPK does root a bit slower in perfect conditions aswell..

Here they all are @ 10 days veg, same left to right order as before, GDP>K'sPK>Urkle:

Ye Olde GDP vs Urkle comparo @ 10 days:

GDP on her own @ 10 days:

Urkle @ 10 days:

K's Purple Kush @ 10 days:

alright, i figured i ought to make myself useful, enough bs'ing in bean's thread. here are urk/gdp shots. urk on left gdp on right:

they are very close in every aspect. the feel the same, smell the same, and have more or less the same high. they differ slightly in taste with urk being a little more sweet and flavorful than her counterpart. they are so close that if i were keeping one just to grow, it would be gdp. i, however, am interested in breeding with it (and i smoke for taste a lot of the time) so i will probably just keep urk.
