Well, 1.37e/l (yesterday) up here so you're driving around with cheap gas, prices are probably climbing to 1.5e/l during summer! Lucky me I don't have a driving license, but it's still a lot cheaper to drive around in your own car than taking train or a bus.

Time to buy a motorcycle for me. I live in one of the consistantly highest gas price regions and my gasoline bill is crippling me. I have to drive a truck for work, sometimes two hour commute daily, and sheesh....it's tough keeping fuel in her. . . I usually have less than a quarter tank in it.

It's not a good idea to drive around with less than a 1/4 tank. Your in-tank fuel pump uses the gasoline for both cooling and lubrication. If you run your tank empty, chances are, your fuel pump is trashed and that's going to cost you a lot more than a couple of gallons of gas to repair. If the pump doesn't die right away after running dry, then it'll choose the most inconvenient time possible... Guaranteed :D

gas prices in California around where i live are: regular=3.54, plus=3.64, premium=3.75usd. and diesel=3.00 usd. I drive a Volkswagen TDI, and get 50-62mpg. I can commonly get 750+ miles out of one 14 gallon tank. As soon as the warranty wears off, im going to get the bio diesel conversion for it; and use my friends chinese food businesses used Veggie oil for my fuel..(which he said he would give to me for free).
I'm a small man, and have been bullied most of my life,, so i know how to spot it.. and the gas companies are the biggest bullies on the playground at the moment.:( Fuckem'!.. make your own fuel.. get that monkey off your back.. peace.. best wishes..

$3.50 for a gallon of Regular Gas
$4.00 for a gallon of Whole Milk
$4.50 for a pack of cigarettes
$3.00 for a loaf of wheat bread - cheap one, good kind is almost $5 a loaf

But the news says we avoided a recession.

Yeah, I remember the late seventies and the gas lines. Sometimes spend hours in line, people pushing their cars that ran out of gas, only to get to the pump and find out the station is now out of gas.
Alot of luxury cadillac's were traded in that year for things like Volkwagon rabbits. Nobody tradin in their SUV's like they did back then.

sigh premium in the tank sux ><. I think I will take a motorcycle class soon and get a license.

Any of you use gasbuddy.com? US & Canda Site where you put your zip and tells you the cheapest gas in the area around you. *you may want to try other zip codes right around you so you get more choices because there might be a station worth driving to that really isn't that far.*

Man I want to hear some europeans chime in, they pay and arm and leg for gas!

I feel bad for the working stiffs that have to drive to work to support their families, and can't afford a more efficient vehicle, or to work closer to home. The filthy pigs in their Escalades and Suburbans deserve whatever they get. I live in the sticks, and at least 75% of the people around here with 4x4's and pickups never use them either off-road or hauling stuff.

I get testy when people tell me that I'm "lucky" to live close to work- I sold my house and moved first into an apartment 1/2 block from my work. When I got married, I bought a house 2 blocks from work. I went for several 3-month periods when I didn't even start my car. I have a very stressful job, and the 5 minutes of walking really helps to break my mind out of the job rut. Besides, in the winter, I can walk and be at work faster than I can clean the car off, get it warmed up, and get down the street.

I remember gas lines in the '70s, and the advent of "Economy" cars. Like someone said, no one is really conserving like they were then, so prices won't go down any time soon. If people continue to buy gas at 4 dollars a gallon, why would the oil companies drop prices?

I'll be happy when I can get a small diesel vehicle that I can convert to running on hempseed oil. Then I can just spend the money on an impeller oil press, and grow/make my own fuel. Carbon-neutral, cheap, and provides other products as well (seedcake, fiber, cellulose).

the problem with ethanol is that the farmers are dumping their herds and growing corn for fuel instead of the animals. just watch what it does to the price of beef and pork, as if it isn't already overpriced.

yeah I am looking at higher gas prices and thinking seriously about moving to diesel. I guess I am lucky to live in a country where you can get diesel cars and not just trucks.

I did notice that not all gasoline is the same. Some petro's sell lower mileage fuel. I get about 5 bux more mileage when I buy my fuel from a independant than I do from a major like exxon-mobile. I couldn't believe it myself but I get better mpg on the independent and its noticable... 5 bux saving for a half tank.

I never bothered with mileage until I got this trip computer thing with the car I bought.. now I turned into some old Abe Simpson... watching my miles all the time... I got someone else checking this out and they confirm a saving.. more for them cause they got one of those european sports jobs.

Anyway I been looking at diesel which I expect to get about 40% more miles per gallon and even better you can make your own biodeisel fairly cheap. Runs better than petro or mineral distillate (diesel) in all modern cars... even cleans the engine of all the mnderla diesel crap over time.

Don't let the car co's tell you it will ruin the engine.... they are tyring to tell people they have to have a specially built car and fuel system to use it... wrong. More than 20+ years of peoples experience proves that cars run cleaner, get cleaner and more fuel efficient when switched to biodiesel.

I can pick up a diesel 4x4 for about $5K...old but its just for testing the theory. Going to give it a try out and see

lol gas isn't too bad. I work at an autoparts place and people come in that drive massive v8 engines like 5.7 chevy motors.

if you can't afford the high gas prices then just get a small hb with a 4cyl engine or better a small diesel car.
