Garden Valley Outdoor Grow

Hello folks. Been a while since I’ve been on here! Took a couple seasons off but anxious to getting back to my favorite hobby this year with a new garden at a new location. I’m used to running seeds but getting a late start this season so I’ve been fortunate enough to get my hands on a handful of clones from a buddy of mine and had a few questions for anyone nice enough to chime in.

Clone strains include:
. Sunset Sherbert
. Pineapple Upside Down Cake. (Humboldt seed co.)
. Wedding Cake. (Humboldt seed co.)
. Blueberry Muffin. (Humboldt seed co.)

First question. If the clones we’re on a light schedule of 18/6 from 6 p.m. to 12:00 noon. What would be the best supplemental schedule to get them ready for a mid June planting?

Second question. Is it too late to sprout seeds for an outdoor grow this season? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You could sprout now and grow multi-pound plants pretty easily with enough nice soil, good weather and water. I sprouted regular seeds for smaller half-ounce sized plants in mid July last year and still pulled nice bud from them in October.

Just match your veg light's on and off time with your daylight cycle a week before you plan to leave them outdoors, Your at ~15hrs daylight in Norcal on June 1st approx 5:30am - 8:30pm until June 21st then the days begin getting shorter.

Ive been thinking about running a bunch of smaller plants from seed late this season, thanks a ton for that man.

PDX Dopesmoker - that's great news because I germinated about 60+ seeds 3 days ago hahaha. I figured I'd get something out of them just used to starting them late March to early April. Just bought my first home in the foothills. Got 6 acres of usable land and a small greenhouse the previous owner built out of windows and skylights. Just want to get a little something going this season. Been too long lol.

Ibechillin - I will do that. My real goal is to get these clones vegging long enough to take a bunch of clones myself to get a light deposit going sometime in June. A lot of the clone were taken in early flower so I have to account for the time it will take for them to snap back into veg. Oh well it is what it is.

I'm kind of strapped for cash at the moment so I plan on making planters out of what I have on the property. Which is a bunch of dead fallen pine trees lol. My man expense will be the soil to fill them along with the light deposit and buying the material to make the light dep. Should be interesting.

Nice piece of property, congrats. The clones you have now are rooted plants or just cuttings currently? If they were rooted when you received them they should be back in veg growth already. You have exactly 4 weeks from today until June 14th. I could see taking cuttings from your current clones in 2 weeks on May 31st and having them rooted by June 14th at the soonest possible.

Ibechillin - thanks yeah they are rooted in solo cups with nice roots. I just transplanted them all in 2 gal plastic grow bags in a coco mix I bought from the local hydro store. I will be planting the seeds I germinated hopefully tomorrow. Thanks for the advice bud.

No problem, I made an edit to my above post. You could probably continue running your veg light overnight to maximize growth until like June 4th before beginning to reduce lights on hours to match with the natural outdoor cycle.

Ok so it’s june and work has picked up so not much time to spend in the garden as I would like. I work underground in the greater Sacramento area so this last week since weather has been good I’ve been working mon-fri 7a.m-7:30p.m and 8 hours on saturdays. Leaving me only with Sunday to do anything around the garden😘

I’ve acquired some more clones and the seedlings for the most part have all sprouted. Don’t know how big they will get as I just germinated them late May but here are some new pics to show some progress.

My 128 ez cloner didn’t come in till this last Wednesday when it was supposed to come in last week. So my local hydro store gave me a 32 site on the house to hold me by. Took a few clones with it. My hoop bender from bootstrap farmer came in missing the actual hoop bender part so still waiting for that to come in. Bought 14 yards of soil from a local landscaping distributor but the mix seems a bit hot to transplant anything in. Anyone could give me some advise as to cool it down would be awesome!!!

Happy gardening to you all!

My clones are and have been under 18 hours of light inside. I put them outside on the side of the house with a big umbrella over them for at least 4 days, Keeping them out of direct sunlight To harden off before transplanting.

Haven’t posted anything in a while. Work has crazy. Finally got a 4 day weekend for the 4th. Back to the grind tomorrow. It’s nothing impressive but at least I’ll have something for the season. Had to scrap the light dep gh until next year because of work but on the bright side I’ll have all winter off to button it up and get thing really rolling for next year.

Looking good! At least you've got something. Are they being watered thoroughly to wet the entire container?

I like the log container, thats pretty sweet! Thanks for sharing! Hopefully they will keep their momentum up and yield well! :smoke:

I haven’t been watering the whole container because the plants are still pretty small. I try to water on the outside edge of the plant to make them roots spread out searching for hydration. Hit them with a epson salt foliar as they didn’t seem to like the coco I had them vegging in before I transplanted them. They seem to be greening up a bit.

I've grown both the BB Muffin and Pineapple Upsidedown Cake from clones. Both have amazing smell and flavor. My cutting of the pineapple unfortunately yielded like crap, so after a couple of runs discontinued it. The BB was pretty good, but not super potent. I would run it again tho.

Some update shots of what’s going on. Get the clones moved onto the deck to make some room in the small hoop house.

Got tired of watering the seed plants every couple of days so I transplanted them from 7 gal pots into some 15’s. Took some of my goats used bedding and top dressed them and watered in some compost tea. They were rootbound as shit so I’m sure they will be much more happy in their new temporary homes.

Making some headway on the 20’ by 40’. Hoop house. Got some of the end walls framed up and hoping to be putting up the rest of the hoops and plastic soon. Hope everyone is doing good!

Happy gardening folks!
