2 x 6" from Craigslist little surface mildew. After drying inside, cut to shape, stacked on two aluminum channels over a table and tarp outside. A mixture of polyurethane (quart) and paint thinner thin enough to soak in applied in many coats. After drying assembled with pilot holes, wood glue and polymer coated screws (square bit ftw). Slope measured and 8' 2 x 6" cut diagonally with 6 vertical corner/anchor/support stakes. Three boards on one end and two on the other with ~ 15 screws per corner. Then wrapped in clear/white plastic and stapled. Finally 1/2" 19 ga. galvanized hardware cloth fitted. Poly tubing goes from the faucet to tee fittings buried slightly under wood chip mulch/grass a few inches from the fence. Elbows raise the tubing along outside edges of beds with 10 psi flow (valves) and two snap clips with screws. Poly manifolds with drip tape ~ 8 x 12".
All this to say soil can be piled in a canvas bag, with fence boards or disassembled pallets to help with bugs frozen ground and aching back. Waist high plants on a table fare better than on the ground at least this time of year.
