Garage opens by itself???

I have my grow space in a detatched garage and have an alarm system on the garage. Today the garage opened for a second time (I knew because the open chime sounded) My roomate and I are the only ones with a opener and we are the only ones that know the code to the key pad. Does anyone have any ideas to the the fuck is going on? Is there a way to change the garage opener frequency?

There is usually more than one frequency. Hard to say if yours has one, as you have given no info. I would just google the garage door opener. Peace GS

Any new neighbors? Several years ago our new neighbors somehow were set to our same frequency in their new house. All that had to happen was move a couple switches around in the opener and it fixed the problem.

there should be a lock. If you press the lock for 3-5 sec it makes the remote useless.

agreed on changing the frequency!

as bored teenagers, we'd set our garage door opener to the same frequency of a guy down the street, ride bikes down by his house and set his door to open here and there, good times =)

There should be a way to change it. Depends on if it's an older or newer model. Older ones tend to have a set of pins that you move in the remote and on the actual opener. You'll probably have to remove a panel. Newer ones are probably digital.

I agree with one of the above posts. Just unplug it, lock it, and only use it when it's necessary.

i had the same problem at my grandfathers house. we thought it was the frequency. it kept happening, no rhyme or reason. i decided to go around the development with his clicker and see if it opened anyones door. it did not.
i tracked the problem down to the external keypad. i reset the unit and reset the code, and never had a problem again. its been over 6 months now:)
most units make it impossible to have another persons frequency. if you have a keypad, i bet its that

press and hold the program button on the opener for aprox 10 seconds, usually red or green.this will erase all stored codes.reprogram your remotes and keypad. if that dont work the logic board is bad. I suggest you change the opener if so.

Is this near a military installation by chance? Jamming signals will open a garage. Unplug the opener. Better yet, clamp the fucker shut.

lol someone in your area got a new opener installed with the same default code as you. he prolly doesnt even know it open your door. happened to my neighbor, he got pissed n finally figured it out. fortunitly for him he didnt have anything to hide :plant grow:

Just change the codes on the main unit to your choice n sync the remotes
