G.HazexPana, grow and selection

EDIT, Nov 3rd: Since none of the Green Haze x Panama seeds germinated
this has become a Nepal Haze-only grow, of two plants.

The good news is that dubi/Ace Seeds has recently announced they will be
re-leasing two new takes of the Haze-Panama cross...
"... we are on the process to re create the purple haze 23 x panama and green haze 19 x panama hybrids again, but this in time in feminized format, reversing an amazing pamana female from last panama selections, so i think this new re creation of the hybrids will be much better than the previous standard ones from 2008."

END EDIT

Going to give these Green Haze x Panama F1s from 2008 a grow early next week.
They were graciously provided to me by dubi, whose good will and charity is humbling.
Gracias amigo.

I believe both the Pana and Thai x's were wed to Green Haze female 19,
which dubi's described as the best green mum for taste and high.

The Nepal Haze, which I'll grow and select next (also getting old), actually used a Green Haze father,
and the only one I know of that's been described on the forum is Green Haze male 6...
"Bushy compact structure, medium-low vegetative vigour.
His hybrid offspring have shown the desired fruity incense aromas and powerful electric haze effect.
Good flower/leaf ratio. Green colour in the flowering."
I only have 17 remaining of these, so will probably get another pack for a better selection pool.

But, back to GHxPana...
I'll be germing roughly 3 packs' worth of seeds, with:
- no planned mum-keeping or clone-taking,
- probably quite a bit of topping to keep everything under control,
- maybe 2 gal. max pot-sizes, but final flowering number will determine that
- all your help selecting males and females

here's Lean Green's well documented grow thread...

(thanks for that LG)

much more later :)

Sign me up for following this thread.

Seems like there is a dearth of threads about Green Haze and Green Haze crosses. I'm glad you are stepping up to the plate on this challenging strain. I've ordered twice from ACE, and regretted not getting Green Haze twice. I'm such a chicken!

The good news is that the Panama may have tamed this to some degree. I believe Panama is much quicker and has nice sized solid buds.

All the Best,

I fear and loath that aspect, but the harvest should be gonzo! :)

I believe dubi's reckoned anywhere from 12 wks. for Panama-leaners, to 16 wks. for hazier phenos.
(btw, dubi said he used a green pheno Panama in the cross.)
I'm going to do what I can to keep flower time down-
bright lights, smaller pots, very short daytimes (e.g., 9 hours) and cooler temps towards the end, etc.

They are now in water, as of 1030 today.
While I was getting everything ready- cleaning shotglasses, setting up heating mat, giving the seeds a spin in the sandpaper cone, getting the distilled water warmed up and oxygenated, ETC....
I was reminded of the montage montage from Team America...

Green Haze x Green Panama! The green phenotype was supposed to be more cerebral and energetic than the red phenotype. O.K., its official. I want this strain. I believe I had a chance to get this strain once, but I can never make up my mind. I can't wait till you are able to test. The best of luck to you cracking those.

3 days

3 days

and no activity. 1 h2o, 2 warm wet p-towel.
Just added a smidge of rooting hormone to their towel-dampening water.
With 3 packs I was hoping to see an outlier or two make a move by now,
but indeed, they are on the old side.
I'll move 'em to soil tomorrow.
In anticipation of perhaps a low germ rate
I've launched the Nepal Haze as well (also older stock).

This could be a short thread.

minor update

minor update

No GreenHaze x Panama have pushed above soil.
Two NepalHaze have.
Seeing these low germ rates, I kicked off a Johnny Blaze F2 grow...
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=273015
...with 14/15 above soil, so far.

There will be at least a NepalHaze grow/F2 select on this thread.
I'm interested in making a Nevilles type cross with them (i.e., NL5/HazeA x HazeC),
but in this case would be Nepalese/GHz6 x GHaze19Thai.
(see the top of this thread for green haze 6 and 19 descriptions)

We'll still try to make the best of the situation! :)

Nepal/Haze sounds fantastic! Tagged for the ride...:)

Just FYI, I've had Sam's Hz/Sk beans take over a month to pop topsoil, so, hope you still have them kicking around. Going by dates of your posts, you waited close to a couple weeks... they still might pop. :)

Anyways, will be enjoying the show either way!

I agree with ManyClouds. I have had old seeds sprout long after I had given up. I had given up, re-planted with a different strain, and had the original seedling pop about a month into flowering. It was probably 3 months after I had planted it.

Don't give up!

Thanks for your advice and support!
The germination chamber is still up and running.

And, so far, still only the two NepalHazes are up...

...which are a couple of "ugly duckings" at this point...

N1 has leaf deformations that remind me of F13s I've grown...

And N2 has a fairly botched cotyledon, and one not exactly at 100%...

I gave her worm tea to try to introduce some nutrition.
Any suggestions for how to help her make it past this delicate stage?

btw, she's got the greenest stem of anything I'm germinating now,
and hope she's got a good dose of Green Haze 6 lurking within.
(tho' GH6 is supposedly low in vegatative vigor)

gracias y saludos!

Hi LowFalutin,

It's a pitty the green haze x panama didnt germinate ... the seeds were a bit old and this concrete batch was probably not correctly stored inside the fridge during all this time.

The good news is that we are on the process to re create the purple haze 23 x panama and green haze 19 x panama hybrids again, but this in time in feminized format, reversing an amazing pamana female from last panama selections, so i think this new re creation of the hybrids will be much better than the previous standard ones from 2008. I'll send you some when they are ready so you can continue with your original plan ;)

LowFalutin,
Those seedlings are looking stronger. I think they will keep improving in health. You've got the green thumb. Looking forward to the next pictures.

Hola TB!
Thanks for the kind words. :tiphat:
The NepHazes were up-potted yesterday.
The most severely mutated model is beginning to put out
very needle-y leaves, and may be the most haze-leaning.
Pics in a few days.

especially bearing such great news!
I bet this is going to make many people happy.
(maybe the non-germing was for the best )
(and thanks again for being the kind of supporter that sends us goodies)
I'll be starting that GHxTF3 plan/project within the week...
for using with the NepHazes and more...

happy growing everyone :)

Hola LowFalutin, nice thread, here one of my gardens this year, I got 2, next time y post pics from the other (theres some panama/OTH x panama/mex/dc.
The one with red dots are panama x mextiza/deepchunk x panama x mextiza/dc or destroyerx mextiza/dc. Nice vigour, they are about 2 month aprox, supercroped, in 16 lt pots (one male and one female.
The 3 others are Mace x peyote purple/dc x nn (posible punto (south american bagseed from perú, nice high) rojo/ white widow). Mace is uzbeka/North indian x Banghi/nepal). They are less vigour but I want to make some open polinisation to get some nice hibrids.

Saludos, nice strains and work

Your plants look super happy and healthy.
Please let us know how they progress,
and smoke reports. :tiphat:

I'm overdue for an update here, but I'm serving
two mistresses right now-
wrapping up the current flower
and, getting the next grow started/coordinated.

The two NepHazes are moving along,
and I think I've got a male and female.

The one that I think is male is beginning to stretch
against the T5 array. A stub rub from him gives a
skunk-y/armpit-y aroma, which I guess is the Nepalese.

His suspected sister has just a touch of that smell,
but is more wood-ish in general.

They will move into a far happier environment on Monday
when the flower room frees up.

happy growing y
Saludos!

NepalHaze still at it...

NepalHaze still at it...

They're recovering from some neglect, but bouncing back fast.
When stem-rubbing the tallest I get a dry chalk-ish aroma.
The shorter one has no smell at the moment. And started
turning tri-ploid around node 2-3.

I re-used the germ soil from the failed G.HzxPana and NepHz attempts
when starting the green and purple haze thais, and we've got a
mystery appearance or two from that old effort.

more updates to come
