Fuzzy seedlings?

Sorry but I don't have any pics yet, I just noticed this today at lunch), but I just planted some seedlings yesterday and the day before for a total of eight. Well it is just bag seed so I have no idea what I've got but there is white fuzz starting to show up on them. They were sprouted in the ol cup of water and I pulled them soon as I saw a decent length of sprout. They are in those little round bails of dirt you can buy at the home de pot, brand new fluros above them, set about 8-10" above. Any Ideas on what I did? good thing is it's just bag seed so starting over is no biggie, I just want to prevent the same thing from popping up on me if I restart. I know it's a PITA to diagnose without pix but I didn't have time before coming back to work, but I will have some t'morrow.
If it helps the fuzz is closer to the dirt than anywhere else.:wallbash:

without pictures it's hard to say, but my gut is that the medium was too wet and didn't get enough air flow.

if what I am picturing is what is happening.

That's what I was afraid of. Are they gone?, cause, yeah, I had the lid on last night. (damn it) I didn't think I needed to worry at this stage about that. Hmm.... will still post pix t'morrow. I do thank you mexi for answering.(Damn they were pretty wet):wallbash: :wallbash:
But hey! That's what being a newb is all about right?! Damn it, will post pix tmorrow

Yeah sorry guys and gals my camera would not take good enough pix. But yes it is like white balls of fuzz mostly at the base. If it is not a death sentence what do I need to do to fix this? Remember it is just bagseed and I can start over just as easy as I can throw them away. And I will try to get some pix up for ya'll.

just let the medium dry out a bit

I have let seedlings wilt and brought em back, though I woudln't suggest letting them dry out that much.

keep an eye on em and let it dry out till the fuzz goes bye bye

no more domes

All right, thanks mexi and every one I will still try at the pix later tonite. Glad to hear they will pull thru. And sir yes sir to the no more domes!

lol, I would bury them deeper in a bigger pot for one. It will give you (well, not you, but your plant lol) a far stronger main stem.

lol thats the root man, little fuzzy root mass.

awww, kinda cute.

I wouldn't worry too much at all.

if you run domeless keep a little water in the bottom of the tray.

Ha yeah those are roots, man. I would transplant them into little cups or something at this point, if only because those Peat-Pucks dry out very quickly.

you gotta be friggin kidding me! Roots!? Are you sure? never mind ya'll are the experts NOT me.(obviously) So, just maybe replant them and continue on huh? I swear I need to change my name to noob extraordinaire lol. And I am using those peat pucks just to get them going I plan on using a drip for the moms and dwc for the children. I do appreciate all of ya'lls help. Glad some got a kick out of it. Man if you could see the redness in my face. Anyway thanx again and I will update later!

Technically that's not roots ... it's a beneficial fungus that accompanies roots ... Just poke them in deeper next time ... if your sprout has more than just an 8th-Q inch tail in the water or paper towel you've soaked it too long IMHO ...

it's not myco fungus, it's just roots.

you don't get random myco on peat pucks with no inoculation, and certainly not on plants that young.

Yeah the roots coming out of the seed in the water cup were bout an 8th of ". I guess I didn't push them in deep enough. I am just glad to hear that I didn't waste them right out of the gate.
