Fruitilicious, Kashmiri Landrace and Northern Lights @48N

I´ve been lurking for a while now, but for the past couple of years didn´t have the chance to grow. This year I finally can go at it again.

Time to share!

Strains:
2 Fruitylicious (fem) (Mandala Seeds)
2 Northern Lights (fem) (Nirvana)
3 Kashmiri Landrace (Picked in Kashmir last year)

I germed the seeds in IKEA Coco which worked pretty well for the purchased seeds. 4/4

The Kashmiri seeds hat pretty bad germination rate (3/15). No surprise here, as I picked them from a not fully ripened plant in late August. I will post pictures of the plant later when I have access to my other computer.

All of the plants were in 2l pots for 3 weeks until I realized, that black pots and direct sunlight dont mix very well regarding soil temps.
So I put them directly into soil yesterday and hope the snails won´t rape them.

As space is limited, I keep one FL and one NL in pots as a backup, to take the space of any Kashmiris that turn out to be males.

One ofe the Kashmiris is a triploid and is branching heavily. Hope this one will be a girl. Theoretically it should yield a third more than a regular plant.

Without any further ado, here´s what you all want to see:

I guess the yield and THC content will be way below average. Still, a nice souvenir from a great trip in my garden.

I just hope id don´t have three Kashmiri Guys...

Get some lime in a ring around the plants and/or some copper tape to keep the clugs off. wouldn't want to lose those landrace plants.

cool shots. looking forward to seeing what the Kashmir plants do.

Hi Signor, you could put some rose stalks around your plants and the snails will stay away or die. I'm at 47 N and I'm starting pretty late but still, it's better than nothing... How are the temperatures there during daytime ? Beautiful landscape where you've been, best of luck with your grow. Peace, HJ.

That is so cool you collected seed of that Kashmiri landrace yourself.
How was Kashmir?
Always wanted to go, but never got there yet.
Looks like a nice wild-type strain.

@Mantilla: Kashmir was great. Like a muslim Switzerland
If you can make it, you should definitely go there.

@Husky: Temps around here have been 15°-25° in the last few weeks. Probably higher for the plants, as they are in a greenhouse. I really need to get a thermometer to better monitor the temps in the summer.

@Wellington: The mother was not cultivated. Not really in the wild though. I found it in a large cluster of plants in a "park" called Betaab Valley. The Bollywood movie Betaab was filmed there, hence the name.

The plants there were quite heterogeneous . I picked the one with the biggest and frostiest flowers. As i have no clue about the Father(s) I guess I´m in for a surprise.

Time for an update.

The wheather has been shitty since the last update. Temps around 15° and a lot of rain. Ideal conditions for slugs.

Two of the Kashmiris habe been raped pretty badly. I probably won´t have to prune them anymore. :shucks:

To pretect the plants from further attacks, I made some copper collars.

The pics are about one week old.

Does the size of the pics affect loading time, or is the automatic resizing taking care of that?

What a difference a Week makes

What a difference a Week makes

What a difference 1 week of good weather makes!

I forgot to mention, that I visit the plants only at the weekends, as I live and work in the city. Just for clarification.

Thanks to good wheater the explosive growth of the last week really makes up for the bad performance so far. The Fruitylicious and the NL more than doubled in height. The Triple Kash has has added a couple of nodes. Kash #2 has grown 6" and is showing male preflowers. I plan to cross the Kash with the NL, so I will keep the male.

Time for an update.

The plants are doing great. The NL and the Fruitylicious in the ground are healty and vigorous. Both are showing preflowers. I tied down the NL to promote more branching. I don´t expect it to be very mold resistant outdoors, so Irather end up with more smaller buds, than one main cola.

The Kashmiri gender studies have lead to some interesting conclusions: Kash#2 had first shown a couple of male preflowers, while the Triple Kash clearly had some white pistils going on.
Fast forward 1 week: all the new shoots on Kash#2 are exclusively female. The exact opposite for the Triple Kash.

Final conclusions: Kill the triploid, keep Kash#2.

As a nice sideeffect, this gave me enough space to transplant the rootbound 2nd Fruitylicious into the ground. I also gave the 2nd NL from the group pic to the friend who provided me with the 2 Super Skunk clones.

Quick update:

All plants are doing fine. I expected a little more growth from the Fruitylicous that went into the ground last week end.

I had to bend some of the lower branches of the big FL to make space for the cucumbers.

The Kashmiri has shown no more male preflowers.

For the next two weeks there will be no updates, as I will be on a business trip. I am looking forward to see the development of my babies when I return.

First Buds!

http://imgur.com/a/FA4fy

The Kashmiri has started to flower and stretched quite a bit.

The bigger of the two Fruityliciuos was so big that it could be seen from outside the Greenhouse and I basically had to cut it in half.

I will post better Pics in the next few days, when I have my better camera with me.
