From Seed OUTDOOR GROWS

ok.. any tips for growing from seed outside.. that allows you to make it to harvest.. and not having to go out to the site to often.

is it better to start the seeds outdoors. or indoors.. i figure a plant that starts outdoors probably will take off alot faster and grow bigger.. but last year. my seed plants i planted outside.. 60% were killed off way before they were big enough to even live on there own without help.. lol

any tips or tricks.. or pictures of ways you do things.. or ?

i have clones that are going out soon too.. the first batch site 1 is done. but the other 3.. are in the making.. i wana make sure that if i have 4 sites.. that 1 makes it to harvest.. with thieves/rippers. cops.. and animals/bugs.. i figure the more spots the better chance i have at getting anything for outdoors.

Direct sow outdoors is hard to pull off as far as I've seen, unless you have a lot of seeds to spare. I always start mine indoors with the same light cycle they go out into, and I try to let them grow at least 4 weeks. You can start them months beforehand indoors, if you'd like, then they really take off fast, so that's what I would recommend. Really make sure you get the light cycle as close as possible to when you're going to plant to prevent any stress/flowering and revegging.

I don't have the luxury of starting indoors other than germ. What I do is just put baggies with holes cut over them, seems to work well as long as it's not too hot.

^^Where did you hear about that in the northeast, Joint?

I usually germinate mine indoors in paper towels, than let them grow for a few weeks in my windowsill. Open the window a lot to let them get used to the air. Than transplant them outside, right into the ground.
.... The larger and more established the plants are before you transplant, the better chance they have of surviving. I'm usually just starting to transplant them outdoors now, but I'm late and just germed my 1st seeds. I'm not expecting much this year though

I've only done small personal grows myself as well.
If you don't have female seeds, you have to be careful to get all the males out of there before they start flowering and dropping pollen. Your entire crop will be seeded from 1 single male you missed (even in separate spots), its happened to me a few times. Decreases your yield significantly and potency, and it sucks picking all those beans out..
But than you have seeds for next season!
