Gypsy,
I am writing you to thank you so very much for your seeds. On August 5,2003 while serving with the 101st Airborne division in Mosul, Iraq I was shot 2x at point blank range in my head.... luckily I was wearing my protective kevlar helmet. My helmet barely stopped the bullets. I received an extremely bad concussion from the double impact. I spent the next few weeks in a hospital in Germany. I was then flown home and Medically discharged from the Army. I then began a long fight of plaguing health problems that I am still fighting today, such as insomnia, loss of appetite, dizziness and worse of all extreme migraine headaches. The meds that the doctors have me on are very harsh on my body and can be very addicting. A friend of mine then suggested that I should try medical marijuana. I did some research on the subject and after a long talk with my wife we decided that we would give it a try. I ordered some Nirvana white Rhino seeds from you and began growing them. My life today is much better than 6 months ago, I now get close to 6 hours of good sleep, before i was only getting 3 hours at the most. I also am eating like a normal human. I would just like to say THANK YOU so very much. I am very new to this whole thing, but I am living proof that medical marijuana works. I am not sure if the strain that I got is the best medical grade. So, if you can suggest a better medical strain it would be much appreciated. Once again THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

Hey Mike! --

First, and formost, I would like to thank YOU for your service and sacrifice!!!

Secondly, welcome to ICMag, the friendliest Cannabis Site on the web! {IMHO}

There are many here abouts that, I am sure, will be able to make suggestions on strains that will best assist with your conditions. I wish I could make some recomendations, but being relatively new myself, I lack the experience...

In a day or so, if you are not getting responses to this thread, I'd suggest you kick up a new one, with a title along the lines of, "Strain recommendation, please" down in the "Medicinal Marijuana" forum, or somelace. Explain your conditions again, and ask for suggestions...

Once again, welcome to ICMag!

Green lantern,

Ty for the offer, the first claim i filled with the V.A. got awarded at 50%, but I can't get a decent job cause im getting 3 or more migranes a day, so i filled for a 2nd claim, along with a claim for PTSD.

Everyone,
Thanks for the Emails with the medical strain recomendations, they all seem like real fine ones. Little out of my price range at the moment, Money has been real tight since ive gotten off Active Duty. I got mouths to feed around here, so my $10 seeds are going to have to due for now. Ive been busy reading forum posts and seem to be learning some real useful stuff.
My wife has been laughing at me cause I got about 6 pages of notes ive been taking, lol. Im also going to school on my Montgomery GI Bill, im thinking about taking some horticulture classes when register for spring semester classes. Well, I got to get the little ones Ready for bed. Thanks for all the help. Peace....

Gday delta, i have found heavy indicas to help my ptsd, but have also found a mix of strains work also, its all a mater of sample testing small amounts of each. As you learn to grow more you will sample more and find which is best for you...

I hear bogs lifesaver is a good med strain. Anything with knock out indicas in it is a goos start. Makles you hungry, induces sleep etc...best of luck, im glad mj can help you deal with the efects of war.

deltamike21,
the reason i am responding to this is because i believe you are a man who feels strongly about fighting for what you believe in. i would like top ask you what your opinion on medical marijuana was prior to this experience.
the reason i ask is that i believe you could do a world of good for our movement.
i strongly urge you to contact the marijuana policy project in washington d.c.

you have made a great sacrifice for your country and should not be treated like a criminal simply because you choose to use marijuana as medicine.
unfortunately, the federal govt does not see it this way. even though you risked your life and suffered greatly as a result they would just as soon see you in prison.
your story would be of great help in swaying public opinion on this issue.

you can contact mpp via thier website www.mpp.org
or you can call 202-462-5747
you may want to speak with alison green, membership director at ext. 129

i hope you will consider getting active in this movement
we need more people like you among us

Beans,

As far as my position on medical marijuana prior to me being shot, Ive always been a supporter of it, I used to smoke pot in High School but gave it up when I joined the Army. Of course I never thaught that later in life I would be useing it for medical reasons. Ive looked over the MPP.org website... It really seems like they are very organized. Unfortunatly, Im having a very hard time makeing ends meet, So right now I wouldn't be able to get a membership.
My wife and I are struggling just to keep the house and put food on the table. I could prolly write a letter or something If they think it would help.It really sucks because I feel that I need to do something to give back. I am so grateful for what it has done for me, you can never put a price on good sleep, anyone that has ever suffered from insomnia can tell you that. I had it so bad that I think I was going to insane if i didn't get some sleep. I was a total wreak, bags under my eyes the whole ten yards. Im not getting a full 8 hours yet prolly arout 5 or 6 hours, but I wake up alot less and nightmares have decreased somewhat. Im hopeing that when I can afford a better strain that it will improve even more. I think it also helps for me to be able to vent my feelings like this. I would like to thank everyone again for there support and concern. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS.

no membership needed. what i'm suggesting is that you offer your services as an advocate.
yours is a powerful story. it should be shared.

also i would like to let you know that mpp is primarily responsible for all progress that has been made in the reform of marijuana marijuana laws in the last 8 years.
this year alone 17 of 20 initiatives on state and local ballots were passed all thanks to the efforts of this organization.
those of us who are medical users are deeply indebted to rob kampia and staff for the great work they have done.

mull it over and if you feel that you would like to make a difference give them a call.

I can't believe all the awesome people Ive met on here.... The two greatest things you can give a soldier is a prayer and a letter of support. Those are the things that keeps his head up. Im not afraid to admit you guys have jerked a tear or two out of me and my wife's eyes over the last few days.

The kindness of strangers is a very powerfull thing.

Forever Grateful,
"Mike"

Mike, though in theory here we are all "strangers" as many of us have never met anybody else on these boards personally, we are actually a family...we take care of our own, whether it be through just a few words of support on a thread, helping out people needy of seeds, sharing our knowledge of cultivation...and the list goes on.

Welcome to our family...now you are no longer a "stranger", nor are we to you. I think you're going to like it here, and all of us are very honored to have you :)

I see Gypsy has so genrously offered to help you out with your "med supply", so all that remains for me to offer is...friendship. Glad to have you on board!

Hi deltamike, I've worked as an independent contractor for 2 military bases for many moons and as you probably know you'll have to push for that 100%......50% is a travesty. It took a friend of mine nearly 2 years before he was granted 100% but he got it!!
Many of my good friends have been shipped out and I pray for their well-being. You are a true hero and laying your life on the line for a slob like me makes me realize how petty my problems really are.......I thank you. :)
